It is with sadness that I only give them 2 stars. First, let me just share that we've been coming here for a few years now. It was a real treat and favorite when it was under a different name. We stopped in this weekend because the quality and ambiance has always been exactly what we wanted. We were surprised to see the name and menu had changed. I asked the women at the counter if it was still associated with the Hotel Fraucere, and was assured it is, but that a bar and table service had been added, and it was under new management in the kitchen. We looked at the menu, we were sad the delicious fall soups and grilled cheese had been removed. When I suggested bringing them back, I was told they were doing things differently. I laughed and said - well, the carrot ginger soup was amazing and vegan, and the grilled cheese on the artisan sour dough was a classic - and that I hoped they'd reconsider. We were psyched that there were now a LOT of vegetarian choices! We ordered a pizza for our son (which was ok - not amazing, the sauce is a bit plain, but it was fine for a pizza) and we ordered two impossible veggie burgers with tater tots. The pricing has always been a little high for the area, the burger and tater tots was $16ea and if the tater tots had been amazing...I'd be writing a better review. The tater tots were disgusting. Literally chewy and stale with no flavor. We had our dog with us, so we had taken the food to go...so no way to return it - which I would have. Sigh. Needless to say, we hope this was a one off, as the area has so few really good restaurants! The burger was delicious...but I ate two tater tots and had to throw the rest out. When I pay $16 for a burger and tots, I kinda want it all to be amazing? The coffee was good - it always was. I feel compelled to write because for years we have been coming, and this was a real...
Read moreI want to start with the fact that the food is great! I will definitely be back. However, some training of waitstaff is in order. Appearance of staff- should be required to put hair up if longer than shoulder length. Dreadlocks dangling around food and drinks is unsanitary. Clearing of tables- should be required to use a tray for clearing dirty dishes, silverware, and glasses from tables when guests are done. I witnessed a girl stick her fingers in four or more used glasses to clear them from table and did not wash her hands that I could see. She then proceeded to touch clean silverware, napkins, and glasses to reset table. Server did not let us know that their were specials we had already ordered and received our appetizers when I overheard another server telling the table next to us what the evening specials were. Lastly, I ordered a glass of white wine and the glass was still hot, from presumably just coming out of the dish machine. Although happy to know my glass was clean, I didn't appreciate the warming of my wine.
This was the second time I have been here and as I said, I would still come back because ultimately it is the food and lovely atmosphere I am there for. Just a few adjustments and the experience would have been a 5 star review.
I VERY rarely ever do reviews. However being a local resident, a big supporter of my local businesses, and wanting to continue to have an awesome local spot to go, I wanted to bring it to...
Read moreWhat a pleasant surprise. I went next door to the hotel Fauchere but, they were closed. So we came here, and I was initially disappointed cause I live the Fauchere, but little did I know what a treat I was in for. The place looks great and had a very inviting vibe. The service was great and our server offered some great recommendations. We had the fennell toast, ceasar salad, impossible burger, cavatelli, and a pizza. We loved everything for the exception of the tater tots that came out not crispy, but they got is some new ones and it was a minor flaw on an overall fantastic meal. The real big surprise here was the beer list. For someone whose really into the craft beer scene this place was incredible. The beer list was so well balanced with a great selection of sours, IPAs, stouts, and lagers from all around the country. They had a good variety of local stuff as well as some great stuff from other renound breweries from around the country. Their cellar list was fantastic as well. I am indulged in a bottle of Plan Bee Beets American Wild Ale and it was amazing. Overall if you're in the area or just passing by you HAVE to pass by 403 broad. Also on a last note, pay no mind to that person that wrote that dreadlocks have no business near food or drink. The place was super clean and that type of closed mindedness doesn't have any business in a town like Milford. Eat good food, drink great beer, and be merry...
