My elderly parents have been customers of the Milford Diner for years with no issues, only praise. On their last visit my mother was given the wrong entrée, which she alerted the waitress to. The waitress offered to provide a new entrée however not wanting to be wasteful and wanting to eat at the same time as my father, my mother elected to keep what she had as it was similar to what she originally ordered. When they were leaving to pay an older gentleman asked how their meal was. My mother advised him of what occurred. He immediately accused her of wanting “free food” which was not the case at all. My mother was so taken aback by his reaction and it upset her greatly. She advised him she was upset by his reaction and he was in danger of losing a loyal customer as a result. He in turn shrugged and made mention he did not care. Guess the fact my mother did not demand a new entrée an essentially saved him money by doing so was lost on him.
Writing this review to illustrate how much words matter. My parents have been frequent customers for many years. As a result I purchase gift cards for them on every holiday or gift giving occasion. That is now coming to a screeching halt. I also will not be patronizing this diner. I have only been there once and my order came out incorrect as well when my spinach & feta omelet came out with onions. Happy I just rolled with it and didn’t say anything as I probably would have gotten the same reaction. The food was mediocre at best and no one working there was overly friendly. So while the owner believes he is only losing two people, it’s more like a large group as our family and close friends will never dine or buy gift cards here again. For further reference, there is a review written two weeks prior to this one by a gentleman named John that further highlights what a delight the owner of this...
Read moreBeing local, we prefer to support the local, small and family businesses. We were too late for breakfast at the Waterwheel Cafe and didn't want to drive to Perkins so we decided to eat local at our historical Milford Diner. Milford Diner has never disappointed but has been terribly disappointing this afternoon. The busboy, mumbled if we wanted something to drink, I asked for flavored tea or coffee if available. He had hard time processing and brought 2 black, weak coffees with creamers on the side. Husband ordered from the menu, three of each, eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes. Order of three eggs came on top of the pancakes (odd way of serving over easy eggs). Then there was a separate plate with bacon and plate with sausage.
I ordered Florentin Omlette with home fries and Belgian Waffle. Home fries tasted like defrosted, leftover mashed potatoes from last night and then fried. Maple syrup substitute was available for separate charge so we asked for honey which too was extra .50 for 3 packets. Both pancake and waffle orders served were missing butter. Milford Diner doesn't serve real butter, we confirmed it's half margarine!
Our bill was almost $60, we questioned the waitress and the manager how they calculated our bill. All we got was everything cost money and you have to pay for everything. We expressed how unhappy and disappointed we were with the food quality and the way it was calculated since they decided to charge everything "a la carte". The manager dismissed any of our concerns and didn't offer any resolution in any way. We are not coming back to Milford Diner and we're no longer recommending this eatery to any of our family or friends. Very disappointed with food quality, customer service, recognition and appreciation as long...
Read moreVery crowded for 11am-1230pm Sunday breakfast/lunch crowd. Got seated for a table of 7 fairly quickly, but the wait time to make the actual order was about 30min. Inexperienced drink order waitress got the order mixed up, but it all worked out since everyone ordered similar drinks. More seasoned waitress who took our main orders got everything right and the food was fresh, good, and filling. Had leftovers for another meal.
Keystone Omelette for my husband had a few small pieces of eggshell in it so he had to chew extra well. Home fries were tasty, not too oily, not burnt. Turkey club was stacked and fresh with a side of crunchy fries. Blueberry pancakes came in a pile of 3, were large (about 8" across), and had a good amount real blueberries. Had some leftover to eat as a snack for later. Chicken caesar wrap was fresh and just the right size to satisfy that morning hunger. French Onion soup was delicious although small and topped with a slice of white cheese. Taquitos that my nephew-in-law chose were slightly soggy by the time they reached our table so his order might've been sitting for a bit before getting to us.
Restaurant was really bustling by lunchtime and we finished our food at a convenient time to escape the larger lunchtime crowd. No opinion of the bathroom since me and my husband did not use it.
Parking is limited (10 spots?) so not ideal for a large SUV or for drivers not used to narrow spaces.
Sidenote: Only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 was the very slow service in the beginning. New customers' orders were taken before ours and we were ready to order before our 7th guest arrived. Perhaps this place will be better on the...
