So the deli was recommended by Tammy Zaleski of the Zaleski Eye place next door and it was a delight!
I went with my grandmother, who, unfortunately, was complaining about waiting (what IS it with older generations and lacking so much patience?) and I apologised on her behalf because the staff was clearly working hard. They were getting kinda busy when we stepped in.
So once grandmother was comfortably seated, I ordered our food (a Couture for myself and a Romper for grandmother). Took about 20 minutes, I think, which isn't bad to ME. I was perfectly satisfied. The sandwich was nice and warm and huge. Definitely got a lot of food for the price (though my grandmother was complaining about how expensive it was... and I had to remind her that prices for EVERYTHING have gone up; it's expensive to do much of anything since the pandemic began in 2020).
The cafe is pretty hip and comfortable, with some neat art and historical photos on the walls and ceiling overhang. You can even serve yourself coffee. Tables inside and outside and the weather was super nice yesterday. The line formation isn't the greatest but honestly, I couldn't imagine a better set up in such a space anyway, so you make do! Just follow the instructions and listen carefully for your order and you'll be fine. Please don't be an arse to the employees.
I will definitely come back (though probably by myself, haha) because their bagels and cream cheeses...
Read moreThis deli makes some spectacular breakfast items generously proportioned and served with a smile. I don't know too much about their lunch fare, but if breakfast is any indication, this place is worth two visits per day!
The breakfast sandwiches are stuffed generously regardless of how you enjoy your guilt - bacon or sausage, this place gives you your money's worth and then some. I particularly love the breakfast burrito, which really does contain a whole breakfast in a portable package: fluffy eggs, meat of your choice, cheese and savory potatoes wrapped in a warm tortilla. In truth my mouth is watering again just thinking about it!
Service is with a smile which is an accomplishment itself considering the crowd that moves through here for breakfast. Yet despite the line, orders are taken and filled quickly and the line moves briskly
There is self-serve coffee and assorted soft drinks to be had for those looking for that. There are places to sit and eat, but this a deli that specializes to go, so this is not for those looking for a sit down diner style experience. That's ok. The food is far better than many diners I've eaten in. Well worth checking out, leave your...
Read moreI will start with the only positive comment I can offer. The bagels are VERY good. As well as the only good bagels in the area. Unfortunately I will be forgoing bagels until I can find another alternative in the area. I want to be clear that I have given this place 5 chances to correct the miserably unpleasant customer service( over about a year) in hope that the next time I called they would have worked out their salty demeanor. This is unfortunately not the case. So I will no longer support this local business. Which saddens me and my husband as we make every effort to do so, and even more so now due to the effects COVID has had on so many of our local businesses. I will say that it is clear that ownership of this business has not instilled in their employees a sense of community, hospitality, or even basic guidelines of proper customer service and interaction. It's clear that there is zero concern for the fact that the uncomfortably unpleasant staff is a direct representation of the business I'm sure they work...
