Pop's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Milford

This is the most upsetting food/service experience I've had. I've been there to eat on several occasions, and this is the first time anything like this has happened. I was told by the waitress after I just couldn't eat my meal because of how poorly it was prepared that she'd have it removed from the bill. She was nice and appropriate of the situation. It honestly just put me off, and I didn't want anything else at that point.

Shortly after, I was told it would not be removed from the check, and my only option was to order something else. I asked to speak to the manager. When the manager, who claimed to be the owner, came to the table, I did not appreciate her inappropriate behavior. I stated that I was given an undesirable meal, which I would not have eaten and did not want another food choice. I only tried a small amount of the meal, just enough to taste it. You could clearly see a full plate of food. I only expected to have to pay for everything else but that bad meal, and when I informed her I would not be paying for it, the alternative was to call the police, to which she did. I waited for the police to arrive to ensure I was not refusing to pay at all, to show that I was not yelling or threatening, which I was ensuring they witnessed.

Unfortunately, the issue was not a peaceful resolution. She continued to tell us how no restaurant just removes things from bills and only offers substitutions. "That restaurants aren't for taste testing," as if we've never been to one. It was just demeaning the way she spoke down to us.

The sad thing is, after coming here with my family for the last 4 years, I don't plan to return. I've never had an issue returning a food item if it just wasn't good. It's unfortunate, I was hungry, but it just put me off.

Due to this unfortunate situation, I will remove two stars out of 5.

**FULL WORDS FROM THE OWNER IS NOT CORRECT BY STATING I WANTED THE POLICE. Do to being told that she would call the police on me. This was started at the table (I only asked the waitress to take it away thats it. I was told that the meal would be taken off (I DID NOT ASK FOR IT), however, the owner became upset and demanded I get something else, but I did not want so I was told she'd call the police (not me). I was not speaking loud, swaring, threatening, etc.. I was waiting to pay the amount but she said she is not taking the money but I stated a couple times to give (Police were there).

Please note: I only removed two stars not 5 that could have been fixed, but she did not want it. I would have deleted it but see how I am blamed (I wander if this would be a reason to finally understand what happened, which may drop it...

Todays experience at Pops was extremely below disappointing. We’ve been coming there in past two months almost twice a week. Today, as usual we ordered our food and asked for an extra plate because my boys who are under 3 years old still share a kids meal. When receiving food and an extra plate, the extra plate had two long yellow smears on it. When I asked if I can have a new plate the sever Lisa grabbed it and said that she doesn’t see the reason why because it’s just wet from the dishwasher. Not sure if I should be more concerned with her behavior or that dishes are coming out yellow from dishwasher. Anyway, I really didn’t like how she treated us in front of the kids so I politely went and asked if I could have different server. A female owner came to the table and was very defensive and accusatory. She said we can’t get different server because we already put order in, that she saw the plate and it was water and we got a new plate so she doesn’t understand the issue, that it’s not our place to tell her how her staff should be behaving (because we said we didn’t like how we were treated by the server), and that I am a frequent complainer that already complained three times (during all that frequent dining there I did complain once before because I had a spider in my drink-and that I got picture of so it can’t be dismissed as oppose to plate issue which I regret now that I didn’t take a picture of, so I guess it’s not good to tell them when there is an issue because the female owner will just label you as a complainer). All that scene was in front of my kids which is not acceptable. We’ve been there many times and they have so many great servers that make dinning experience so enjoyable. The food there is good and on most part consistent. The male owner is so kind and respectful. But todays duo between server and female owner was just…so disrespectful,...

This is the first time my girlfriend and I have been here. We were in the area visiting family and did a search for local food. The ratings were the highest here so we decided to check it out. We're so glad that we did! It was very crowded but we only waited 10 minutes to get a seat, it was lunch time so that was understandable. The flow of customers was steady, both in and out. This restaurant runs like a well-oiled machine. There were plenty of staff on hand and everyone was doing their job and their part to make it a smooth and enjoyable experience. The personalities and smiles on everyone's faces made us know that this isn't just a great place to eat but a great place to work. The food and service were top-notch and now that we have been there we Will be going back when we are in the area each time. We highly recommend this to anyone, the extensive menu with a great selection, and the fact that everything is available all day makes it a true "Diner". We actually got breakfast and it was 1:00 p.m. The food was fresh and very well made. There was nothing left on our plates, but also no room left in our bellies for dessert. That's just one more reason for us to go back and maybe have a coffee and dessert next time. We're really looking forward to going again. Thank you to everyone there for a great experience.
