We were very excited to celebrate my birthday at this restaurant. We've been to multiple speakeasy type of restaurants and bars and had great experiences. We definitely want to support and welcome local small businesses that's important for me and my family. Unfortunately our experience this evening was not the best. We had a reservation at 6:30. I got there a few minutes earlier why my husband was parking..our table was ready for us when we got there. Unfortunately, if you're a bigger person, this restaurant may not be for you. They have about eight chairs at the bar, four high top tables, two couch tables and two larger tables for parties of six or eight. There was only one waitress this evening who we saw working very hard. It took a long time for us to get water and our drinks. We ordered the baked brie which was delicious. We also ordered a board for two when we asked our waitress about different cheeses and meats which she did not have much knowledge of. We asked about different flavors of the meats and cheeses we were told. I don't know what it tastes like. I just know it's a soft cheese. We also ordered the brie and blackberry grilled cheese. We did ask for the baked brie to be brought out first and then after that the bored for two and a grilled brie and blackberry grilled cheese. It was pretty close to over an hour. We had to wait for our board for two and the grilled cheese. We saw a couple at the bar and a couple at the table also One of the bigger tables and on the couch receive their food before us. A couple at the bar received sandwiches and a board for two and we still had not received ours. We Did ask the waitress a couple times how long it would be. I was promised it's on its way. It's coming soon. I don't understand why we had to wait over an hour or more for a board of two and a grilled cheese. When I asked the waitress I was told it takes time. They have to heat up the pan for the grilled cheese. If you look at the pictures of my grilled cheese most of it was not even grilled. We brought it home and had to heat up in our air fryer to make it crispy. We did not even eat our board or the grilled cheese at the restaurant. We ask for to go boxes and our bill. We actually got our bill before our food even came out. I was very upset due to it being my birthday just really wanting to have a great experience. As we were packing up our food, a gentleman came over. Not sure if he was the manager or the owner and basically we just heard more excuses. We were told he wish he had known about this sooner that he would watch his security camera to see what happened. I deal with customer service everyday. We heard that you were a new restaurant which we understand but when you're paying over $100 for what we received. If you look at our picture which I redid our bored for two at our home with what we were given at the restaurant. It is very overpriced for what we got. Even though you are a newer establishment, people don't want to hear excuses when you want to go to experience and your paying good money. For that. You can look on your camera all day long. It doesn't make anything better, but if I makes you feel better that's fine. I look forward to hearing from you, but based on other people's reviews, it seems like you're still giving excuses. We wish you well and hope you do well. But unfortunately we will not be back to your...
Read moreThis was my second time coming here. The first time was late at night for an after dinner drink at the bar. We loved the vibe and intimacy of the venue which is why we brought our friends back with us the second time. We were seated at one of the round booths by the window which was very nice. I was surprised to see that only one server was working on a busy Saturday night and she seemed flustered. The kitchen staff seemed busy and backed up as well as it took a while to receive our food. We ordered the stuffed dates appetizer which was good but was lacking something. For my meal, I ordered the buffalo chicken mac and cheese which did not have much chicken in it at all and I felt it wasn't worthy of the $22.00 price tag. One person in our party never received their meal and when we mentioned this to the waitress (once we finally got her attention and the rest of us were about finished eating), she said that she "forgot to put her order in." She was extremely apologetic but that was it. She finally received her meal after we were all done with ours. I don't think the experience warrants the hefty price tag.
UPDATED TO RESPOND TO OWNERS REPLY Unfortunately I am unable to respond to the owners reply to my review which is why I am editing my review. Actually, we visited your establishment on 4/20/24 (I checked my receipt). I did pull up your menu online prior to coming in so that I'd have some idea of what I'd like to order. No wonder the dish seemed like it didn't have much chicken, as I apparently was reading an old menu online and when I saw the similar offering in the restaurant, I just ASSUMED it was the same dish. We were actually the bachelorette party in the first corner booth on the left when you enter the building. Both owners were aware of the fiasco and nothing was offered. The male owner (bearded) brought out the food and said something like "they save the best for last" and the female owner came over to check on the table and said something like "of course we messed up the bride's food. I'm sorry about that" and that was it. To be honest, I'm a little turned off by your response and insinuations to my review. I felt it to be extremely condescending and passive aggressive. Best of...
Read moreI was really excited about this restaurant and was so hoping for a full on speakeasy and to be immersed in the 1920s but unfortunately that is not the case. It's more of an overrated somewhat Art Deco lounge. The only 1920s things that they have are the staff dressed in flapper dresses and black tie wear, green and gold themes, some menu items that are named after 1920s places, ideas and people, and some mug shots of liquor smugglers. The seating is super crowded and good luck if you are plus size. When it's fully crowded it's so hard to move around that even the wait staff has a struggle. To be honest the atmosphere and layout of the place feels more like an amateur slam poetry bar than a speakeasy.
The food is way overpriced. I expected it to be pricey because it's a charcuterie restaurant, but 50 dollars for a very small charcuterie board for two is way more than what it should actually cost. For how much came with the board I would say that 25-35 dollars is a more reasonable price; and 90 dollars for 4 is just absurd. I also purchased the baked potato bowl which for 8 dollars was also lacking. I could have made a less greasy version at home for half the price. I couldn't afford to try much here but I'm sure the other foods are just as overpriced.
As for the drinks, they are pretty bad. My partner and I partook of the cocktail selection. We had the Ward Eight and the Mary Pickford. Both of which were more liquor than cocktail. I hope for the prices of them (17 and 14 dollars respectively) they were top shelf liquor. The biggest red flag however was no one got their IDs checked before partaking of alcohol, which is illegal.
I understand that this is a newly opened restaurant but there are just so many problems that need to be addressed. I didn't even go into how long it took us to get our orders taken or food delivered, simply because they are understaffed.
I'm willing to give this restaurant a second chance and to come with a bigger party but I just don't think it's worth anything other than the...
