I'm going to write this as an open letter to Taco Del Mar. I have been a customer since 1996 and have frequently cited you as my favorite fast food restaurant. I used to drop by for an enormous burrito for which I paid less than $4. Here we are less than 20 years later and I now pay between $5.50 and $6.50 for a burrito that varies in size from location to location but is never really as big as the one I used to get for around $3.50. Consistency is a huge issue across your network of restaurants. I realize that this is probably due to franchisees being overly protective of their bottom line but it's your name that they're doing harm to. I don't even bother ordering your taco salad anymore because sometimes in comes in a bowl so small it practically qualifies as finger food.
Your fish tacos, once the pride of your company, are now soggy messes. Yesterday I partook of a disgusting lunch with a Mondo Burrito that was roughly 1/2 the size of the first one I had at your Queen Anne location back in 1996. The rice was dried out and crunchy and the meat was chewy and overcooked. The fish taco was so soggy that it fell apart while I was trying to eat it. It's hard to say it because I've loved you for so long but I think I'm done. I guess that there are a few locations that I still like and might drop by every now and again but none of them are near where I live so I guess I'm moving on to Qdoba or other options. This is a...
Read moreWe have been coming to this Taco del Mar for years. For some reason, in the last year, there has been a ton of inconsistency with the food, and it has not just been this local TdM (the one in downtown Everett has had similar issues). They changed the chicken several times. Once it was like precooked chicken breast strips like you might get in from the grocery store mixed in with their regular shredded chicken. Recently, it was like they redid the whole spice blend and the chicken tasted extremely tomato-y, like chili or even bolognese sauce. I couldn't finish my burrito bowl it was so weird. I really wish they would just go back to the previous chicken mix. It was awesome and had great flavor. As far as food is concerned, I'd give this a 1 or 2 star rating, depending on which version of chicken they're using this week. It's all over the place, unfortunately.
As far as service, there are two folks who have worked at this location for years and they are the nicest, friendliest people. The cleanliness at this location is way better than other fast food joints in the area. I would absolutely give the service 5 stars.
Update: September 2023. Had feelings that the chicken was a little too cool temperature wise. We went there last night and think we might have gotten mild...

Taco Del Mar in Lynnwood is officially back and better than ever! Under new management, this place has completely transformed—and in the best way possible.
The quality of the food is outstanding now. Everything tastes fresh, flavorful, and made with care. The burritos are massive and packed with perfectly seasoned ingredients, and the tacos? Easily some of the best I’ve had in the area. You can really tell they’re using better ingredients and taking pride in what they serve.
The service was equally impressive—fast, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. The staff made us feel right at home, and they were super helpful in customizing our orders. It’s rare to find this level of attentiveness at a quick-service spot.
As a parent, I especially appreciate how kid-friendly it is now. The atmosphere is clean and relaxed, there’s plenty of space for families, and they were more than happy to cater to our little one’s picky tastes. A huge win for anyone dining with kids!
If you haven't been in a while—or had written it off in the past—give it another shot. Taco Del Mar Lynnwood has seriously leveled up. It's our new go-to spot, and I highly recommend checking it out. You won’t be...
