I recently visited this restaurant from Atlanta, GA. This was the experience my family and I experienced: I wanted to share my recent experience at MoonShine Modern Supper Club so others are aware. I celebrated my birthday brunch there with a party of 15 amazing friends and family. The food and vibe seemed great at first, but what happened afterward left me deeply disappointed and hurt.
Early in the brunch, I received a beautiful gift—a bottle of Marc Jacobs perfume—which I placed in a small Macy’s bag by my seat, tucked near a plant. As more guests arrived, I received additional gifts, and everything stayed together in that same spot. Around 6:15-6:30 PM, we began wrapping up, and my brother came to help carry everything to my husband’s car.
Once we got home is when I noticed the bag with the perfume was missing. I immediately called the restaurant. (I’m just 12 minutes away), and they checked but said it wasn’t there. My husband and I drove back right away, and by then the area had been cleaned. No one claimed to have seen anything. We were the only group sitting in that section, which raised concerns.
I asked if they had security cameras and was told the owner, Victor, was the only person who could review the footage. I called back on Tuesday when they reopened, and Victor assured me he would check the cameras and get back to me by Wednesday. He never called. I had to follow up again Wednesday evening. That’s when things got frustrating.
First, Victor told me the footage didn’t show anything because of the camera angle. When I asked if I could review it myself (since I knew what to look for), he changed his story, saying the footage was too blurry. I pressed again, and his tone shifted—he became loud and aggressive, eventually yelling, “The cameras don’t record! I can’t see anything, so there’s nothing I can do for you!” and hung up on me.
I went back in person to speak to him, but Victor refused to come out. Instead, he sent two staff members to talk to me. I expressed my disappointment and frustration—by then it felt like my bag had been stolen and there was no accountability. One of the staff admitted the cameras do record but suggested maybe they weren’t working at the time (contradicting everything Victor had told me).
I have never felt so disrespected and dismissed by a business owner. It’s disheartening to be treated this way, especially after choosing this place to celebrate a special occasion. I will never return, and I encourage others to think twice before dining there. A simple moment of kindness and transparency could have gone a long way—but instead, I left feeling hurt, frustrated, and deeply...
Read moreService was really attentive although the kitchen was super slow even though there were like three tables around us. We had a reservation for Friday at 7pm. First time here. Our entrees didn’t roll out until a little after 8pm.
The calamari was good. The beef arepas were like biting into cardboard. Arepas are technically dry, but pairing it with an even drier ropa veija made it for a terrible experience. It was so dry, you can choke on it. It would have been nice with an aoli in between or something to make it less so.
The cocktails were meh. My spicy passion fruit margarita tasted overwhelmingly like cucumber (strip) and none of passion fruit. The spice level was perfect though but… the cucumber strip shouldn’t have overwhelmed the drink like that if it had enough passion fruit to begin with. And, I’m a light weight but I didn’t feel the slightest buzz from my drink. I ordered a second drink: Italian caipirinha. Ya’ll might want to check the spelling on your menus— I thought it was an entirely new drink. This one had more alcohol but it was overwhelmed with mint and just didn’t taste balanced. I was really sad about the drinks. I ordered the filet bronzini(o)? Fish was cooked perfectly but wasn’t seasoned at all (!). The yam puree below it was fine. The Brussel sprouts were way undercooked (and under seasoned). It felt like a really basic meal. I took most of it home.
The service was good in a sense that everyone was attentive. I say everyone because we had multiple servers (3). The one guy who we gave our second drink order never brought it back and had to be re-ordered 15 mins later with another server. Pulling a Kona beer took another 15 mins to pull and be delivered.
I really didn’t enjoy my time here. For a ‘Supper Club’ I was really expecting fine dining and better service. Considering it was a Friday night and they were slow, I’m guessing this place might not survive anyway.
I heard their brunch is good. Maybe I’ll try that before I write them...
Read moreDisappointing and Underwhelming service! I visited the Moonshine establishment Tuesday 11/26 after work with friends and was completely taken aback by the lack of attention my party was given and unfortunately the less than satisfying dishes that came to our table. I was the only from my party that had visited Moonshine before and recommended it for our dinner based on my past experience which was completely opposite from our latter experience. Upon sitting and being greeted initial by Jules our waiter, we realized that there was a large birthday party being thrown upstairs which might have caused the delay and ultimately the neglect of my party of 3. We received entrees that we immediately communicated were not suitable and asked if we could exchange and our waiter went to speak with the chef and never returned. We then caught the attention of the manager who explained they would “exchange” our entrees but we would still be charged for the two dishes we were sending back. We attempted to find a solution that wouldn’t call for us paying for 4 entrees, however the manager was very curt in which he stated our $30 meal was the most expensive and they were unwilling to take the loss. We explained how unfortunate it was that he would not truly “exchange “ the meal and he continued to mention that the 2 meals alone was too much of a loss. I have never spent $300 on a meal where I was ignored by staff and unable to eat my entree in the same visit where we were told that “everyone who eats at The Standard, swears by the food at Moonshine being better.” As is by saying that statement was a way to discredit that fact the we were unable with our 2 entree meals in addition to our calamari being cold, soggy and beyond rubbery. Based on the managers approach at rectifying the situation and his nonchalant attitude I’m happy to say I will not be returning to this restaurant, please do better at with...
