A bunch of friends and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Simple Fare, a charming new Indian café in Millburn, and it was an absolute delight!
As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see such a creative and flavorful selection of veg options on the menu. Every dish we tried was a hit! The Bombay Sandwich was nostalgic and perfectly spiced, the Grilled Chilli Cheese Toste was indulgent comfort food at its best, and the Aloo Kathi Roll was bursting with flavor. We inquired with the owner about the spices in the Aloo Kathi Roll and were delighted to learn it included a hidden grandmother’s spice blend — a beautiful touch of tradition that elevated the dish even further. And the Rose Pistachio Cake was not only gorgeous but delicately flavored and just the right amount of sweet.
The drinks were equally impressive — unique, refreshing, and thoughtfully crafted.
What truly stood out, though, was the outstanding service. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they were serving, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
Simple Fare is a fantastic addition to Millburn, and I can’t wait to go back with my wife and try more. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic, delicious Indian street food with a...
Read moreI had been to east coast on a business trip last week and one my friends recommended this new cafe. Visited with few of my friends and we had a great time! It was an hour's drive from where we stayed, but it was worth a trip.
Being a Vegetarian, I was happy to see a lot of options. Do try their Kathi Rolls (specifically their "Aloo Masala Unda Roll" - The hosts were very kind to make it without egg for me), Bombay Sandwich & Aloo Tiki Burger. Every dish I tried was very tasty and had that subtle extra flavor of spices which pleases your palate. And don't forget to try their "Rose Pistachio Cake". You will surely love it.
A small cafe but was yet welcoming and spacious as they have seating inside and outside the cafe.
If you want to enjoy delicious Indian food with touch of modern flavors, in a cozy ambience and experience a great service, you should definitely try "The Simple Fare"
I wish there were once such place here in Seattle. I would definitely try visiting the cafe again on my next...
Read moreWhile visiting my sister in the area, she took us by the simple fare for a quick chai and snack on a rainy and cold day. Although they were coming up on closing time, the owner welcomed us , offered to give us to go cups and containers and was kind enough to allow us to sit and enjoy our tea and bakery items in the warmth of the shop while he and his team finished tidying up for the evening. The chai was pleasant and warm, and the date, jaggery and fennel scone was a light, crispy texture, with just the right balance of flavours. The prices are a bit steep on some items, but looking around at the other shops in the area, they are comparable. And given that the shop is providing Indian, western and fusion items side by side, while also feeling so clean and modern, it is quite a niche. Being an American, but of Indian descent, this shop felt like a welcoming place to sit back and be ourselves while catching up. We hope to frequent the simple fare often on our visit and on future...
