DONT BRING YOUR DOG
The ice cream here is very good, I’ve visited multiple times with my wife. But this time we brought our dog, as they offer a ‘dog sundae’ on the menu.
Well it’s a bit misleading, because you’re not actually allowed to bring your dog inside!
What do you do? My wife waited outside with our pup while I ordered but it was uncomfortable because
I couldn’t carry all the ice cream by myself (let alone hold 2 cones and pay) and 2. They were out of what my wife wanted so I had to go back outside and ask - uncomfortable when there’s people waiting. I mean what are we supposed to do?
Made a simple afternoon out for ice cream into a logistic nightmare for foolish reasons resulting from rules set by the store. No one wants to hold the line up when there’s other customers. We chose this place to buy ice cream because they offered the dog dish. If you don’t want dogs, don’t offer a product to dogs?
What if someone came here alone with a dog? What would they do??
Edit: "Maybe you're a new dog owner" Maybe you should argue with your customers/insult their intelligence more, that's a great tactic.
It is a legitimate observation that online we as customers see an option for dogs but there is nowhere to order that is accessible if you have a dog. I guess customers can not hold and share these observations because know-it-all business owners will come back to argue in ways that target the reviewer/customers intelligence. Not a good look. We as customers share our experiences through reviews because it is our only available form of expression.
My observations legitimate, however may not be a factor important to some people which is fine. But you are clearly trying to mislead what I said. It is not that dogs can't enter, its that there is not accessible place to order with a dog. Maybe you should try to understand what people are saying instead of writing a poor response like that. You're clearly a self-concious business owner who can't take criticism. I'm just an outspoken person with options.
Also most of your bad reviews are specifically about you and after your response I can totally see why and I've dropped my rating accordingly. Great ice cream like I said, but in a day and age where poor character has essentially ruined this country I'd rather buy, mediocre ice cream from a friendly person than great ice cream from someone who can't properly respond to a customers review without being passive aggressive and childish. You'll catch more...
Read moreBetter than West End Creamery, as far as ice cream is concerned. They make it there whereas West End distributes theirs. Ice cream is creamier and you get a much larger portion for roughly the same price. Better Value overall.
Not too many flavors, but the flavors are good and unique flavors (peanut butter, heath, oreo, cookie monster, etc.) but the ice cream has very good flavor, is reasonably priced, and they give very large portions. Definitely going again.
Edit: (4 stars) After several visits back, they are repeatedly out of the same flavors. Becomes old news if you can't get exactly what you want. Still tastes good and the portions are still good.
Edit 2: (back up to 5 stars) That was dramatic of me to knock a star off, I'll admit my mistake. After several more visits back (it really is the best place around) each flavor has been in stock and the staff has always been very kind to me. They have also added more flavors, up to 38, (see owner's response below) and I actually am able to find much more of what I'm looking for than places with 100 flavors. For a local company you actually can't get...
Read moreClean, quaint, homemade ice cream shop serving generous portions of creamy ice cream (texturally and flavor wise). They give samples upon request, and all flavors tried delivered consistently strong and delicious flavor built in a creamy base. Tasting the vanilla ice cream will give you an understating of what you can expect across their flavor range.
They allow splitting of large and pint sized containers into 3 flavors, so I ordered orange pineapple (a fairly uncommon flavor, this one was the creamiest I had with a creamsicle-like flavor), pistachio (again creamy with a good pistachio flavor to the base but not strong enough to overpower the many whole pistachios contained within), and maple walnut (think your typical flavor profile just stronger flavor, creamier, and generally better executed). My wife got a small Oreo ice cream which, in addition to my mounded pint, demonstrates their larger than expected portioning which is highly appreciated.
Overall, an 8/10 mostly due to solid execution of the basics. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. We'll be back if we pass through...
