This was our first visit to Amigo Taqueria & Botanas. We ordered 5 tacos (two asada, one chicken, one carnitas, and a birria), a quesadilla, and a churros con fresas. We ordered take-out via the website. The ordering and pick up process was smooth, but when we got home we were missing one asada taco, which was half of my meal.
Not wanting to drive all the way back, I ended up calling and asking for it to be removed from the bill. The person answering the phone didn't seem to believe me at first and had to comb through my receipt. I was finally told I would be credited but was not given an apology.
As for the food, the chicken quesadilla offered the best value for money - a good portion size - but like the rest of the food and salsas, it was pretty bland. If I'm honest, I expected more from an authentic Mexican establishment. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day. Willing to give the benefit of the doubt.
I wish the establishment well and hope this was just a one-off poor experience, but I can't in good conscience recommend Amigo...
Read moreThe atmosphere as I walked in was nice. The vibrant colors and authentic feel spot on. We took our order and met some resistance in conversation. This resistance was met with side banter about us in Spanish which I know pretty darn well. It kinda disappointed me. I'm coming here to give you business and you mock me on how I speak your language and how excited I am to try your food. The Elote was excellent. The burrito, very dry and seasoned with adobo at best. I was really hoping for a truly authentic experience and what I got was an up class taco bell where all the sides such as sour cream guac and queso are extra...and very shoddily applied. The chicken in the burrito was very dry and cool. Hot food hot cold food cold. But above all else..respect.i went in with a smile and left with better understanding of prejudice. I'm sorry if you feel in some way, in my coming there to try your food, I did you a disservice.
