Upon entering the door, it took forever for a host to notice us. The Pepsi I received was barely carbonated, and if there was any cheese under the piles of cost-effective onions and peppers on the three measly triangles that made up my Mad Mex Quesadilla, I sure didn't taste it. These complaints, however, are nothing compared to the awful service I endured from my waiter. When I placed my order, I asked for extra sour cream. When (the cook?) threw my order on the table and quickly hustled away, I called out to him that he hadn't brought ANY sour cream. He either didn't hear me, or didn't want to deal with the problem. After he disappeared into the kitchen, I waited for our waiter to come back. After waiting for several minutes, he finally showed up. A woman from a neighboring table got his attention for me, at which point I called out my quick-to-fix problem. The waiter interrupted me by saying: "I'll be over in a minute" and proceeded to walk over to another table AND TAKE THEIR ORDERS! As my food cooled in front of me, and my dining companion ate his meal, I sat there and quietly seethed. When the waiter finally came over and got me my sour cream, he saw that my glass was empty and asked if I wanted a refill. I figured the guy would try to smooth things over and salvage his tip by coming back right away with my refill. NOPE! Over ten minutes later, after I'd finished eating my cold quesadilla and was pondering calling for the manager, the waiter came back with an entire tray of complex mixed drinks.....and my refill. Rather than quickly refill the Pepsi of a guy whose meal had already been partially ruined by his incompetence, he decided to complete the job by making me eat without a beverage. Lucky I didn't order anything spicy, I guess. I guess all those people who HADN'T gotten their food yet, and could've waited 30 seconds more until I got my simple refill, were somehow more important than me....twice. I know that some of you are reading my angry review and are thinking that such a person surely did something to provoke the waiter. Nope. My dining companion, whose honesty overrides his blind loyalty, assures me I did nothing to deserve my miserable Mad Mex experience. Also, during the waiter's many extended disappearances, another patron from a different table got disgusted and went to the bar to ask for service. So It wasn't just me. And if you decide to eat at Mad Mex in Erie, Pa......it might...
Read moreWhen I walked into the Mad Mex the atmosphere was the first thing I noticed. The atmosphere didnt respresnt that of a mexican restaurant but non the less it was still very good with the lights and music. Surprisingly, almost all the tables were full and we only had to weight 5 minutes. When we sat down and ordered drinks and looked at the menu, there a good variety. However, when the food came I was seriously disappointed and astonished just how terrible the quality of the food was. I ordered a quesidilla with flank steak and what I was brought couldn't be more disappointing. When I first saw my food it looked okay but when I opened it up to see how much cheese and steak they put into it I was completely shocked out of my mine. They only put cheese it one of my slices and only a few singular pieces of shredded cheese that was paper thin. On top of that there were only 3 or 4 little cut up steak cubes in each slice not even cover half of each slice. At the end of the day I payed $15 for a tortilla with about 9 little pieces of cut up cube steak and 4 little pieces of a shredded cheese. This is beyond insulting to my Mexican culture for a place to claim they are a mexican restaurant but yet not have the true quality of what an actual Mexican restaurant should have. I came from all the way across the country thinking that this place might be mediocre only to find one of the worst restaurants I have ever eaten at. I'm surprised this place is even in business still. I am convinced that some of the people eating here are paid actors or AI generated because this has to be one the most upsetting and unbelievable places to eat at. If you like wasting money on fake Mexican food that has the worst quality and portions then feel free to come here. And on top of all of this they didn't even bring us chips like a REAL traditional Mexican...
Read moreVery dissapointed. A group of 5 sat at the bar to order compared to wait 45 minutes for a table thats fine but what we saw at the bar and how we were treated was horrible. We had rude service, we understood it was saturday night at 7:30 but it took forever to get drinks and they were all bad. Then we found out why. The "Fresh Made" Margaritas were poured into the machine out of a 5 gallon bucket brought from the back. Look at the photos I have video proof this bar maid dipped a beer pitcher in and filled the machine that way with who knows how old mix. As a member of our party owns a nice resturant he pointed out alot of errors such as there was no soap whatever around the bar, they were not washing hands after certain tasks which is a standard in health and food. After we saw all this we wanted to leave but then the owner came out and told us our food was being remade but didnt know why. He seemed sorry but had no idea what was going on. Not one order was right. Wifes food was burned to the fajita tray, some was hot some was cold. We all left unhappy but we were given free meal vouchers which I can say will never be used after this visit. We were also told we could use these coupons at other MadMex locations such as Cranberry we didnt need to come back to that location. Very dissapointed, and I say stay away from...
