Icing on the Lake has been a great business for years, ever since they started out on 12th Street. Since moving to the new location, they've definitely seen an uptick in business which is incredible and has lead to some new flavors and creations. I've heard their cookies and cakes are great but this review will focus on cupcakes. If you've never had one, you're missing out. All parts of the cupcakes are tremendous. They are gourmet in every sense of the word and worth the price of admission. Our family has switched to getting cupcakes for birthdays instead of cakes because they are their own masterpiece of flavor. And speaking of flavor, there are a ton to choose from. You could probably sweet talk (see what I did there?) the owner into making a unique flavor just for you. But keep in mind that any custom orders will take time and cost more. I'd say it's worth it though if you have a special event planned. The cupcakes come in two sizes, basically normal and jumbo. They even have alternative diet cupcake recipes featuring vegan, gluten free or vegan&gluten free. But fair warning: You'll need to call ahead and they are only available in chocolate or vanilla. Again, you MIGHT be able to get special flavoring if you have an even or something planned but expect a premium. And pay attention to the flavors of the day which are posted on the website. They have some flavors available every day like chocolate peanut butter cup but the daily specials are only available on those days unless you are ready to pay more. I’m surprised to see negative reviews that were left recently regarding the ‘vault’ vending machine. I’d like to share my experience this past weekend. Me and my family took a trip up to Lake Erie from Pittsburgh for the weekend for my sisters birthday. It was a stressful trip as we couldn’t get into our Airbnb due to an entry code issue, then we lost our replacement key for the place we were staying!! My mom discovered the Icing On The Lake Vault on google, and I drove my sister over and we had SO much fun using this machine, we actually went back 3 times over the course of 36 hours! Lol. I even brought some cupcakes back home, everything we tried was delicious, and we had zero issues paying with our card at the machine. Icing on the Lake officially has my business for everything, always. We had our wedding and reception on Friday, 6/29/18 and ordered cupcakes (vanilla/vanilla, almond raspberry, salted caramel, chocolate PB and carrot cake) and a two-tiered cake (vanilla/vanilla). Guests marveled over the cupcakes, even guests from big cities with ultra-posh bakeries. The small two-tiered cake we also ordered was incredible, and as a result my husband and I have turned "leftover wedding cake" into a food group because we cannot bear to see it wasted.
