The worst Pho place I’ve ever been to around the world. I’ve been here couple of times, and their taste has become totally terrible. It’s not authentic at all. We ordered Pho for 2 persons. The pho soup was too sweet and salty, and meats smelt very bad. (Tried pouring hot water to make it mild) But we couldn’t really eat Pho anymore and have decided to leave in 5mins. The server was OK in general, bringing hot water we requested and some more slices of meatballs (they charge $3-4 extra for these but there were hardly meats in the soup). But she didn’t really care about us leaving so soon and just took the payment. A server normally would ask customer leaving too soon if something’s wrong but she didn’t. Overall, it’s heavily overpriced for what you get. Go for it if you want something from nowhere.
added after seeing the restaurant’s reply on Aug 1st. I’m rly surprised to see those review with high stars, as the food here is far from Asian authentic. I am from Asia and I remember the food was OK when I first visited here, even though I knew it was much more expensive than what you can get in bigger cities. Also, yes I have tipped the server because what she did stayed the same regardless of the food taste or quality. Tipping was not on the food, but her service.
++ added on Aug 7 We DID NOT order extra meat. We asked the server if this is the way pho is in Saigon Night, because we saw two slices of meatball as we literally had to count. There were hardly ANY meat in the soup. And the broth was way too sweet and salty. So we called the server and asked about Pho’s taste and its lack of meat, and the server said “Pho generally tastes like that and let me go to kitchen and check about the meat”. She was back with extra slices of meatball. So this was BEFORE we actually started eating. So your statement is UNTRUE and we did not ORDER extra meat. And it’s quite surprising that you don’t put proper meatballs but SLICES of meatballs. Your menu says “meatball” and the meat you put isn’t really “meatball” at all! So after the server brought extra SLICES of meatball, we started eating but the meat was too smelly then decided to leave. We did leave tips for the server as I said, the work she had to do was still the same even if we left early. If there are happy customers, well, good for you. But Saigon Nights certainly was the worst Pho I personally ever had in many other foreign countries, incl. Vietnam. Hope who left 5 starts here visit some of Vietnamese restaurant in bigger cities, like Cleveland...
Read moreHad this been a review I was giving 4 months ago it would be 5 stars for the food. I was a regular coming in to get the Pho. Best I’ve ever had, or used to be. The insane amount of flies were annoying as they kept landing on my food and flying at my face but the food was so good I ignored it. I wish they would clean the condiment containers that are table side as it makes me wonder how long they’ve been there for and just refilling the bottles because the edges are crusty, bottles and the tray they sit on are filthy - just it’s unsettling. Nonetheless, the Pho was fanatic.
Now that I revisited twice in the last month I really am unsure of what changed but now I don’t know what to expect when I walk in the door and order the same meal. The last 2 times were horrific. 4 weeks ago the broth was so salty that I had trouble eating any of it. I thought it was a just a bad batch or an accident so I just paid and smiled (no way would too much salt one time ruin their amazing broth for me so I went back again 2 weeks later). When I tell you the broth was the consistency of olive oil it would be an understatement. I asked the waitress if she had given me something else because nothing about it resembled Pho broth at all, she remade it but obviously still the same broth. I took 3 more bites of noodles (shiny from oil) and 2 more sips of broth (thick as gravy) and left. For the rest of the day I felt like I had literally drank olive oil and it was coating my throat. It was the worst food experience I have ever had and I’m really sad because when they make their Pho good, it’s GOOD. But when it’s bad it’s BAD.
I am hoping I can leave a different review in the months to come but the inconsistencies of the food and the cleanliness of the table side items has forced me to give this restaurant (which used to be my favorite place) 3 stars...
Read moreI actually wasn’t gonna review this one because I know it can be hard to run a small business. But when I see the reviews it clear that the bots, which is messed up. And ironic and how she responds to all the reviews. I think there’s some projection from the owner.
I’ve lived for 20 years in a place that has so much Vietnamese available That is so good. I love Vietnamese food.
The noodles in my noodle dish were very thin and over cooked for their density, so they just fell apart in a dish.
The fish sauce didn’t taste right. And my husband’s broth taste of vinegary, which was really strange.
But it’s a dishonesty of the reviews that bothers me. Don’t use bots.
Erie is in a town that has a strong legacy of small businesses and honesty is really important.
It also bothers me that every time someone writes a negative review, the owner calls than a liar. That was the last straw for me where I felt like I needed to leave a review.
I didn’t end up finishing my meal because there was hairs entwined in the bottom of my noodles. Can’t blame that one on the server.
I made sure to very quietly tell the server that there was hair in my food, because I wanted to cook to know so she can correct it. I was not trying to embarrass anybody.
The cook wears an outfit that Looks like she belongs in Las Vegas. Very strange. But not related to the food, except that it makes me think maybe her focus is not enough on the food.
The lower scores for the service was because I could hear the cook, getting angry at the server when she told her about the hairs in the food.
It was so expensive. I can’t believe that they are charging that much for the quality of food. I returned from the West Coast where things are far more expensive. A dish of Pho about five dollars less than what they charge at this location.
Won’t...
