Handel's Homemade Ice Cream - East Millcreek — Restaurant in Millcreek

As Millcreek residents, we used to frequent this Handel's location 3x/week spending a minimum of $20+ each time. At one point the worker's said we were probably in their top 2 customers! Unfortunately this all changed recently. We have a 3 year old and the reason we went so often was because he begged to & would earn Handel's as a reward. For months the staff would allow him to get 3 different flavors of mini cones and place them in a cup. This was perfect for him. This was free for him and the rest of us would never ask for a mini cone, we ordered full price, full size items. There also was never a time we didn't pay $20+ for our order. We would never leave with just his cones for free. About a month ago the staff told us this isn't possible and only a mini vanilla cone can be done. We questioned it and the boy was really annoyed and rude about it. We tried again last weekend and the staff was afraid of getting in trouble by their manager if they gave us something different than vanilla. (I actually really like the front staff & think these high schoolers do a great job. It's unfortunate they are afraid of their leadership & can't please the customer how they would like to). I understand policy (although this one comes across stingy), but I also understand the importance of customer service and the need for RETURN, loyal, customers. The cost of the 3 mini cones for Handel's vs. the earnings Handel's gets with our family's purchase is drastic. Unfortunately this experience has turned us away from frequenting there anymore since leadership seems to care more about keeping their overhead costs down than...

The ice cream is top notch. However, this location the customer service is awful. We come to this location because they have a specific flavor that they don’t have to the one closer to my house. Every time we go the high school kids look miserable, you can tell they don’t want to be there. One specific time a young man helped me he asked me what I wanted I told him cheese cake with Oreo, when he gave me the ice cream he gave me strawberry cheesecake and I told him that that’s not what I ordered. He got upset, rolled his eyes, threw ice cream in the trash and went got what I ordered, when he brought me the correct ice cream, he handed to me and just turned around a left. We still needed helped to be checked out to pay and instead of him helping us, another girl saw how rude he was stopped what she was doing which was helping another customer to check us out, and she apologized for how rude her co worker was. Absolutely ridiculous. I called the store a few weeks ago, because my card was charged one too many times at this location. Well tonight employees at the store went through the call log, called my phone number, yelled into the phone and when i asked who this was the person did static with his voice and hung up on me. I googled the number and realized it was Handels. I called back and asked why they were prank calling with the store phone a lady answered at that point and immediately hung up on me. So i called again and the same boy that called me the first time picked up and i asked why they were prank calling me and he said because i called first which wasnt the case. I asked to speak to a manager and he stated no managers were on duty. This is happening at 920-930 sunday night.
