We live right down the street from Yoko Teriyaki and have been coming here for many years. We have enjoyed their food but the last few times we have been so unimpressed that we (my entire adult family) are considering not returning. The portions are smaller and the prices have all gone up. Second time in two years. Now I can understand prices going up. Every one is having to do this but combining it with smaller portions is a negative. My chicken/beef combo was mostly chicken. What looked like all beef on the one side had several large chicken pieces underneath, however, each family member (we all had some beef in our dishes) had issues with the quality of the beef itself. Very fatty, full of chewy gristle, hardly any actual beef. This is not the first time. I placed my to-go order in the store, so had to wait. Many people came and went who had called in orders. Even a couple who ordered after me left before I did. I understand that what they ordered was quicker to prepare than ours. I had ordered five dishes, however when I got home, like I said I am only a few blocks away, the tempura dishes were not even warm. It was obvious this had sat for quite awhile.. Cold tempura is not a five or even a three star dish and with the beef plus tax it cost almost $20.
Lastly, the dressing on the lettuce was so watered down one family member commented he felt they had just poured non-fat milk on it.
Smaller portions combined with frequent higher prices, watered down dressing, too grisly beef, lukewarm tempura, are all combining to make Yoko Teriyaki to be mentioned less often when our family discusses where to have dinner.
This is sad as we did enjoy eating here for many years, both for take-out and dining in. It is a part of our family memories that is becoming a "remember when".
It also makes me sad as it is another example of a small business made up of hard-working American's who are just trying to make ends meet, too survive. But politics, the government both local and national, are conspiring against the working middle class. It has become more and more difficult to be a small business owner. This business would not be having any of these issues if the government had not started meddling with the...
Read moreI've been going to this establishment for nearly 2 years now by a suggestion of one of my family members. The first time I ordered their spicy chicken teriyaki, it was fantastic. It tasted like it came right off my grill. The 2nd time I ordered it, it was OK, but definitely not like the first time. It didn't taste like a came off a grill. More like boiled chicken with a glaze poured over it. The 3rd time was definitely bland, boiled, rubbery chicken with a rather boring take on spicy teriyaki. I recently went back to order food for takeout, and I was beyond disappointed with the quality (or lack of) of their yokosoba with tofu. It tasted like old stale food on the bottom with fresher food on top. The tofu wasn't edible. It was hard and stale tasting. Disgusting! I ended up having to throw most of it the trash. They seem to be spending lots of money on upgrading their store with fancy computers for ordering at each table, big flat screens,a nd a modernized beverage center. In my opinion, they're getting way too ahead of themselves. They should be focusing on preserving the quality and the consistency of their products over their aesthetics. They lost a few customers today....
Read moreUpdating my original 5 star review from a few years ago. Leaving below for reference. The new ownership has slowly changed recipes and overall quality has dwindled. The first few visits after the change the food was pretty much the same, but a few months in and the food isnt very good. I threw away my yakisoba and my family said the teriyaki sauce now leaves a weird aftertaste. The edamame isn’t the same (so easy to keep consistent but alas). They also got rid of the homemade sweet and sour for the egg rolls. Which was incredible. Now it’s a packet of sauce. My only positive remark is that Ellie is very kind. But her bosses are ruining a community staple.

Love Kim!! Her food is the best Asian food I’ve had. When I lived in Eastern WA for 5 years, I never found anything that even compared to Yoko. My sister loves her yakisoba and will only get it from here. And that’s exactly how I feel about her edamame! I have become a regular, so she knows my name and she knows my family. We get hugs every time we come in. Highly...
