I found Jalapeno Loco only because I overnighted down the street at the Four Points. What a fortuitous hotel stay that was. Who knew that one of the best Mexican restaurants in Milwaukee would be this somewhat unremarkable appearing restaurant next to Milwaukee Airport? So I saw the Shrimp Gabardina on the menu, and then asked my waiter what was popular, and he said... the Shrimp Garbardina (meaning coated, I believe). So I ordered that and was served five large shrimp stuffed with Chihuahua cheese, wrapped in bacon, sauteed in a tequila sauce, served with bell peppers and rice, all topped with a white sauce. The best way I can describe the taste is to say, sometimes I wonder what food in Heaven will taste like, and this answered that question. Sometimes you imagine there could be a food out there that will define a whole new flavor experience, and this plate at Jalapeno Loco confirmed it's possible. They should rename the restaurant to Sabor Loco!
Came here again tonight. The last time here, the place was nearly dead, so I made sure to write a review, because in my opinion this restaurant deserves five stars and should be much more popular. It was the middle of winter and snow was piled up out front, which now I guess must be the reason, because tonight it was nonstop boppin’ - super popular place. The door never stopped opening and closing, constant traffic.
I had the bacon wrapped shrimp again (as if there was anything else on the menu)! House margarita is excellent too.
If you’re coming through town I need to overnight near the airport, stay at the Four Points. It’s a short...
Read moreTHE BEST SERVICE I think I've ever experienced! My son knocked over his glass of water and the server from another table was over in moments with napkins and offering to get him another glass. She said that she heard the cup falling over so she came to help (... I mean... WOW!!!) She was back later to sweep a few chips off the floor that my toddler had thrown, before they got smashed into crumbs. 10/10. She just blew us away and continued to offer additional help each time she stopped over.
Then there was our dedicated server who was also phenomenal - helpful, courteous, knowledgeable, and fast. The gentlemen running food was great too and offered additional assistance every time he visited the table. The restaurant was clean and inviting.
I ordered the shrimp de Valle, I think that's what it was called. It was 8-10 juicy shrimp in the most amazing sauce with a scoop of spinach rice. It doesn't look like much, but that sauce was out of this world. It was one of the best shrimp dishes I've ever eaten. The kids ordered a burrito and chimichanga off of the a la carte menu and they both cleaned their plates.
Everything was just so above-and-beyond. Excellent food and exceptional service - come try it...
Read moreMy husband and I came to Milwaukee from Cleveland, Ohio for a funeral of a dear friend. We stayed at the Clarion Pointe hotel which is located beside Jalapeno Loco. We just wanted a light dinner of tacos and chips & salsa. I read the reviews & browsed the website. Sound perfect and it definitely was! Like others shared, you are greeted by very friendly hosts, eager to assist you, and make you feel super welcomed into their restaurant. Ugh I forgot to ask the gentleman host's name. I shared that I wanted to place a take-out order and he treated me like I was seated at a table. Enthusiastically took my order and said it would be ready in 10 minutes. It took less time, and I noticed the owner Hugo Saynes (from pictures on their walls) was handing me my take-out package. He was very friendly and kind. It was a pleasure meeting him. Our tacos were scrumptious! I ordered chicken and it was the best I've eaten. We were truly blessed our hotel was next to Jalapeno Loco. Thanks for a great meal in Milwaukee before we leave tomorrow morning....
