I'd give it a "two" at best. Let's share the truth. Rude, disrespectful, uncaring, argumentative, worst service "ever"! Allow me to share my experience today (perhaps it's just me?).
I ordered one scoop of butter pecan w/o nuts in a cone, upside-down in a cup with "2" spoons (one for me, one for the dog). Hey, it's a treat & we all enjoy them. Well, unless you deal with the personality of the older woman that I dealt with.
The very small (itty-bitty) scoop was placed on the "top" of the cone & into the cup. I was handed the serving. I pulled the cone off "bone dry". Zero, nada, zilch. Flippin, what the heck? I was unamused and questioned the serving. The "cashier" decided to get an immediate attitude and cited that was one scoop as ordered. I've never before in the life of my old age, have I ever seen a completely dry and empty cone; I stated the serving was inadequate & unacceptable. I asked that the serving be corrected and I was refused.
After a bit of bantering back and forth between the cashier and myself, I stated to her that she pissed off the wrong customer and veteran. Her service was unprofessional and unacceptable. She stated to me that I pissed off the wrong cashier. When asking for a refund, I placed the serving "nicely" on the metal counter & the cashier made me go to her on the other side of the shop where it was also disturbing other customers who were waiting to make their orders. Again, this too was completely out of line on her part. Rather than sidebar with me to settle the refund & allow other customers to continue with their orders, the older cashier forced the issue in the presence of other customers who were patiently waiting.
I will probably never return to this iconic frozen custard stand as a result of this service. Regarding the cashier's responsive and unbecoming behavior, I hope it is immediately corrected in favor of your establishment.
Check yourself before you wreck yourself! While this may have been an isolated incident & we all have a bad day at times, (over a flippin' bit of custard; really?) The entire concern should have been addressed much differently by that cashier.
I've rated this experience a 2, and giving it the benefit of the doubt, the concern will be addressed. Ice cream goes into...
Read moreI got a double dip in a dish of chocolate & butter pecan. The chocolate scoop was ok, but the scoop of butter pecan had literally 2 tiny pieces of pecan, not even a whole pecan, it was like 2 1/4ths of pecan.! So disappointing. I’m hoping it just was a fluke because it makes me Not want to bother ordering butter pecan anymore. I’ve been coming here for over 40 years & was never ever that disappointed with their butter pecan custard before. Their Spanish hamburgers & chili dog’s are good, in my opinion. I might try butter pecan one more time in the future & if it’s the same disappointment then Never will I buy it from Leon’s again. There are other custard places that are more generous with the nuts in their custard. Also when it was a Cash only place a certain cashier Almost always jipped me between 5-10 cents when giving me my change. I tried to avoid that lady cashier. Maybe she doesn’t know how to count change or maybe they don’t pay them enough there?!?! I always use my card now when going there because of that 1 dishonest lady cashier. I never said anything to her, I just considered it her Tip, lol.
Maybe they should have tip jars out or if a purchase is on a debit/credit card, they should have a place to write in a tip amount?! Maybe they think, if on a card it would take too long to write it down & slow down the line...
Read moreAs far as the custard I never tried and I never would. I used to deliver the custard mix when I worked for the distributor company. Leon is a joke. First of all, they could care less about their delivery guys, safety was compromised when delivering. I would have to use a ramp to get across. Making a bridge from the truck to the rear door of Leons. Delivering 100+ cases of mix plus other miscellaneous products. That wasn't the worst though. Once inside I would have to fit the custard mix in a fridge that was not suited for that many cases and not in proper condition to store any kind of food for human consumption. The laminated floor was all sticky and rusted due to being an old fridge. Nuts and strawberries all over the floor since everything was all smashed in there. It would take more than an hour to get the cases in there since the floor was uneven and the metal sheets were lifted from the floor. Honestly Leon's custard just cares about the money. They could careless how their product is stored and handled. They sell like crazy why not fix that nasty fridge🤢 to have safe custard for the people to eat. Btw the lady owner is really disrespectful and...
