And the home of the best buffalo chicken dip EVER ❤️🙌 #milwaukee #lake #foodie #mke #lakemichigan

I very much enjoyed the riverside patio vibes, and it was much nicer inside than I expected from the outside. My main takeaway was that the service was mediocre at best. I sat at the bar, and while the bartender wasn't rude, she needed prompting in order to get service. There was only one other couple at the bar, and maybe 5 other occupied tables in the entire restaurant, and she spent at least half her time chatting with the other couple at the bar. I had to flag her down multiple times for service even though I was very clearly in view. After I had finished my meal (plate completely cleaned, not pieces I was picking at), I watched her sanitize the liquor bottles right in front of me rather than bringing me my bill or asking if I wanted anything else. Service aside, I will say that the salmon I ordered was easily the best salmon I've ever had. It had a crisp, caramelized outside but was tender on the inside and not overpoweringly fishy. It was smothered with srasoned butter for extra goodness. I also had the Leah's Mantra spiked tea, which was super refreshing and something I could easily sip all day on the patio. The food and drink were delicious enough to overcome the poor service, and I would likely go back again, but maybe isn't somewhere I'd recommend without verifying if the poor service was an exception and not the rule.

I'll start with the positives: the location is fantastic, with great views of the river meeting the lake. The atmosphere is inviting, with plenty of windows and an appropriate nautical theme. The qualifier: we dined shortly after they opened on a weekend at the end of February, when they were very slow and our waitress copped to being very new. The price for the food is more than what seems appropriate given the ambiance, but given the location it is understandable. The negatives: the food. I had the meatloaf brunch special, and the 'four meat' recipe was anything indistinguishable from unseasoned ground chuck. My MIL had a Caesar salad with inedible crab cakes and lettuce that should have never been served. My wife skipped most of her shrimp toast because the crustaceans were questionable. Service was bad (the most detail we could receive on the oyster provenance was "east/west", ingredients were unknown, attention was sparse despite the calm, etc.) but again, our waitress was new. For the record, my FIL thoroughly enjoyed his clam chowder. In all though, we paid almost $100 for a booze-free brunch we'd rather forget. For such a prime spot, I was really hoping it would demand my return.

Seated before the rush hour on a Saturday evening and received our drinks and appetizer in a reasonable amount of time. Food was good. Overpriced for what you get but we've been here before and knew that. Past that, service was very slow. We watched as another couple waited at least 20 minutes before the waitress even brought them water. The hostess didn't tell the waitress she had seated 2 different tables in that section and no one was servicing those tables.

Our waitress apologized to us almost every time (very few times) she came to the table. There was a mix up with my order in the kitchen. The manager came to ask me what I had ordered thus delaying our order even more as they had to cook the correct order. When it was brought to the table, I was told that my $8.00 side salad would be removed from the bill. My husband went to the bar to order and pay for his second drink as the waitress was no where to be found.

I ordered the key lime pie to go. It took a long time for that and the bill to come. The waitress told me that she had to prepare the pie since the kitchen was so busy. When I looked at the bill and the side salad was on there I questioned the waitress and was told, " the manager told me to leave it on there as the mix up of the order was not that big of a deal and I can't find him at this time." I thought she was kidding, but no she was not. I paid the bill $104.16 and left a suitable tip $20.00 for the service we received. I found the manager and discussed with him, not causing a scene, not yelling and not using profanity, but feeling very frustrated that I was told one thing by a restaurant employee and then told something else. His response was that he would talk to the waitress and he hoped I had a better rest of my evening. That is NOT customer service. The $8.00 was not the issue, but the disrespect I felt leaving the restaurant was. I will not go back and don't recommend anyone else going. Overpriced food and lousy customer service by the...

I've been to Sail Loft multiple times now and I always leave feeling disappointed. It doesn't seem to matter the day of the week, the season, or the server, everything just comes across as slightly sub-par. It's a shame, because they have a gorgeous location and the menu is always so enticing.

The service always seems to be slow. We went on a weeknight at the end of August and the place was at least half empty. It took more than 10 minutes for our server to even acknowledge our table. And then we maybe saw her only 2-3 times more the whole meal. She never came back to check if our entrees were correct or good, and a different employee cleared our table. I'm not sure if they were understaffed that night, but it was disappointing. Another table within earshot never received the appetizer they had ordered and the manager had to come apologize.

The food is also just okay. I had the Grilled Mahi Street Tacos and they just tasted somewhat flavorless and dry. There was garlic aioli on them, but I'm not sure if there was enough or just flavorless that day. The fries I had as a side were nothing special, even though I requested the Old Bay Fries. Again, there was almost no seasoning on them. My husband was less than thrilled with his entree as well and didn't even finish the whole thing. I don't recall what he had exactly, but he said it was just okay.

Again, I've been a few times over the years and it just hasn't seemed to have improved. I go, have a poor experience, and then don't go back for a few months. I decide to give it another try, and all I'm left with is another reminder as to why I don't go more often. It's not a terrible restaurant by any means, I just think there's significantly better for the...

So we’ve gone here for New Years Eve the last 3 years, and this way by far the worst meal we’ve had yet. The drinks and the calamari were good, but outside of that, we were highly disappointed. I got the surf and turf with fries and coleslaw as sides. The crab legs were inedible. They were impossible to get out of the shell, and the cracker didn’t help. Having one of those little crab claws would have been helpful, but even then, it was incredibly hard to get out of the shell and was near cold by the time I got it. The New York strip, which I ordered medium rare, was very tough. The flavor was alright, but it was far more tough than a medium rare steak ever should be. The fries were good, the coleslaw was not. My fiancé’s chicken (another NYE special) was overly seasoned, and wasn’t nearly as meaty as the waitress led her to believe when describing the dish prior to ordering. They also added rice to the plate of chicken, which wasn’t necessary, as there was so little rice it made no difference. My daughter didn’t like her burger either. She didn’t touch it last night, but had it today, and begrudgingly ate it. I didn’t touch my second set of crab claws or the knuckle, and didn’t bother to bring it home. Upon telling the waitress of our displeasure for the meal, they comped our drinks, appetizer, and soup. I guess I was alright with this outcome, as it was a $50 discount, but for the lack of quality and cost of the meals, it was still a decently sized bill for a poor meal. We’ll be rethinking our New Years Eve plans for 2023.

Disappointed...
