UPDATE from 7/12/2024:
I went back to this place with a friend of mine to play The Dig -- and it was easily one of the worst escape rooms that we have ever played.
The puzzles were nonsensical and no clues were available to figure them out, the room was drab, dirty, and neglected. We could not make sense of anything and did not have fun at all.
We went and played at 60 to Escape in Greendale on the same day, the difference is astounding. Take your money there instead -- that's how a professional escape room should be designed, thought out, and operated.
I do not recommend Escape The Room in downtown Milwaukee, and I will definitely not be back. It is simply not worth the money and the time. Horrible all around.
First visit in May 2024:
We played The Apartment with my friend today -- just the two of us, which was great! The prices are very affordable and the central location is great.
I have played approximately 70+ escape rooms before, and I was not blown away by this one.
Some of the clues were difficult to use -- if a certain number combination can be used in 5 different places without any reference where it should go, it gets confusing and consumes a lot of time.
The room could definitely use an update -- one of the puzzles includes an old appliance that is simply broken, and its condition makes the solution difficult to figure out.
The gamemaster's attitude was not super friendly, either -- we got rushed out of the room as soon as our time was up. I know that there are time slots, but being shown the rest of the game (around 2 more riddles) would have been appreciated.
I am an avid escape room player, and I would give this place another try, but there is certainly room for improvement. Some renovation could make this place (and The Apartment) a much more enjoyable venue.

Read moreThis was my second escape room experience and I would not go back here. First, we had issues finding parking which made us arrive exactly on time and not 10-15 minutes before. We were met with an unwelcoming worker who told us our time was already started and that we needed to film out the forms while the clock was running. The tablet we used would not load and I had difficulty filling it out. When I told the worker he just told me “it’s slow”. Before we entered the room, there was no back story or story line. We walked into a bare room without many props and poorly decorated. Within the first minutes I was yelled at for pulling on a object too hard but I was just gently moving them. The game had no story line and was hard to figure out any clues because they were so outlandish and not connected at all. When we exited the room we were immediately yelled at to be quiet and not spoil the room for other people. We only wanted to discuss and talk about the room and experience. I would not go back to this escape room. Overall a...
Read moreNOT RECOMMEND for parties. I used to love this place and have played all but one room but will never recommend it again. The guy at the desk, maybe even manager, was horribly inhospitable and a condescending mansplainer. He totally killed the mood from the onset by not being kind to my 12 guests. Look, I know my guests were 14 and 15 and teenagers aren’t everyone’s favorite, but they are sweet, good listeners, and trying to have fun. Below is ONE example of several where he was rude to even me as the parent and he wasn’t even consistent with the FAQ!
We brought a group of girls for my daughters 14th bday and rented the entire room and he said “who is going in the room” and I said “oh, I didn’t know” he said “yeah, it’s HIDDEN in the FAQs” and here is what the FAQs say “If any member of your party is 14 years of age or under, there must be at least one adult chaperone to accompany unless you have booked the entire room (though we still encourage having an adult present“. Again, we rented the entire room....
