Camp Bar | Third Ward — Restaurant in Milwaukee

This place gets overly crowded with rude drunk customers, music that plays too loud, and takes forever to get staff to serve a drink. On my last visit, one girl kept going ‘in the back’ as if we couldn’t see her texting someone on her phone while a crowd of people waited.

During this visit, the staff forgot about the popcorn and it started to burn, choking customers with the smell. In my opinion, the machine doesn’t seem well attended, and people’s fingers are constantly going into the popcorn because the scoop is left inside and needs to be dug out.

I’d go here frequently because my girlfriend lived in the same building above the bar. It has gotten unruly over the past couple years with people breaking bottles outside, cars getting broken into, vomit outside of the bar, and one time we walked out to a man urinating on the windows because the ‘bathroom was full.’

The only bright spot was Sabrina. She’s personable and tries to keep up with everyone’s orders. But usually, with only two bartenders, the wait can keep you from your group for far too long.

This place was once a great concept, but the uncomfortable atmosphere tries to be offset by keeping their Christmas lights up year round now. If you don’t set your expectation high and aren’t looking for a large selection of craft beer on tap, you might have a...

Camp Bar has definitely nailed a rustic and welcoming atmosphere. The feeling of being in a log cabin someplace off the grid and having cocktails and appetizers to wind down the evening or to just get things started is amazing. Especially on a cool, windy night such as the night I visited.

The themed drinks for the holidays are enjoyable, having had the warm cider and the Winter Collins themed beverage. The cider I would recommend before food to warm up with as for me personally drinking warm cider no matter how delicious with a meal makes the drink less appealing.

The high point was my Winter Collins, as it was bright, light and refreshing with plenty of sour notes. After om noms of Sriracha chicken bites and wonton mozzarella sticks it helped with the too full to drink sensation that accompanies a lot of finger food.

Camp Bar Third Ward is the best bar in Milwaukee. Living across the street from Camp Bar for almost 4 years now, you get to know the people that work there. Camp is not only an amazing bar with a great atmosphere, but an escape for many people. This escape comes from the awesome staff that works there. Jeff, John, Destiny, Maddie, Allison, Elizabeth...everyone at Camp Bar Third Ward makes you feel home.

Camp Bar Third Ward was been a pivotal place for my husband and I throughout our life. Working with the staff at Camp Bar Third Ward, we had our surprise engagement party, our first drink when we had to postpone our wedding, and our first drink of our wedding day all at Camp. Camp was even able to allow us to have my husband take his getting ready photos for our wedding.
