TLDR; good burgers, good shakes, great onion rings, fries were under seasoned. All-in-all it was worth the visit, but I don't think I'll be rushing back anytime soon. CASH ONLY. More in-depth review below.

The Nite Owl has been exploding on the MKE food influencer scene, so I had to see if it was worth the hype.
My wife, 4-year old and myself went on a Saturday arriving at about 11:20am and they were indeed fully open (I know a lot of reviews complain about the business hours).
The order: 2x single bacon cheeseburger, basic cheeseburger, fries, onion rings, vanilla shake.
The burgers are good. They are thick, handmade patties, ours looked to be cooked to medium-well. The cheese was great and nicely melted. Had the bacon burger with the works (ketchup, mustard, fried onions & pickle). All these elements combined made for a good burger, but certainly not the best I've had in the MKE area. I do think the burger patty itself was under seasoned.
The onion rings were great. The fries, however, I do not understand the reviews that say the fries are some of the best they've had, they were entirely under seasoned, like no salt (maybe you need to add your own?). They are thick crinkle cut, super potato-y which my wife likes, but I don't care for personally, but you do get a lot of them, one bag is enough for 2 people.
The vanilla shake was good.
I'm glad we went, but won't be rushing back. Friendly reminder that they are CASH ONLY and their prices aren't bad, but they aren't cheap so you probably need $60-70 to feed a...

They have the gall to charge $16 for a double mushroom Swiss burger and use CANNED MUSHROOMS. They can’t even be bothered to chop up and sauté their own. Sure, there’s a lot of beef, but it is not flavorful at all. Plus the low quality bun is soggy.
The $4 fries are flavorless and soggy.
The $6 chocolate malt was OK but had no malt flavor to it.
On top of all of that, I could maybe see those prices being worth it if they provided a nice, nostalgic atmosphere to eat in, but they’ve made the lazy decision to keep their dining area closed thus reducing overhead even more. It just screams of cost cutting to wring every dollar out of the people nostalgic for this place.
The only bright spot was the friendly and speedy service. But that does little to fix anything when you have nowhere to eat your...
Read moreAn absolute gem of a drive-in! The menu may be simple—burgers, chicken sandwiches, fish sandwiches, hot dogs, fries, and onion rings—but every single item is loaded with flavor. The burgers are massive and juicy, the chicken and fish sandwiches are crispy and satisfying, the hot dogs are old-school classics, and the fries and onion rings come out golden, crunchy, and piled high.
Top it all off with a shake or malt, and you’ve got the perfect throwback meal. No chain fast food place can even come close! Pro tip: get there early—once they sell out, you’ll be waiting until your next craving. This is local comfort food at its...
