The atmosphere is okay. It's wide open and not what I would consider "cozy," but this could be a cultural thing of eating as a community(?) as there are many very large table set ups for accommodating large groups. The décor and seating is very nice and quite comfortable, though I am not a fan of the open ceiling concept so many places have that have you viewing pipe and duct work.
The service was wonderful. They are an order at the counter and they bring you your food kind of place and we were aware of this before we went. The young lady taking orders (and later bringing out food) was very sweet and friendly. You can see all of the cooking as the kitchen is an open concept and the guys working it looked knowledgeable and quite efficient. So much going on at once. The young man who aided in bringing plates out to the table was very courteous and made sure everyone had what they ordered and were enjoying their meals.
The food. SO good. People in our group ordered the Chicken Shawarma, Chicken Shish Tawook Plate, a couple Beef Kafta Kabob Plates, and I had the Mixed Grill. The chicken was so flavorful and real juicy, the kafta tasted wonderful, and the shish kabob - oh my! The beef was SO tender and had so much flavor. The rice, Arabic salad, and hummus were a great compliment to either eating with a fork or stuffing into the large pita that came with the plate. Enough for multiple meals so I will be enjoying it again this evening. Looking forward to it already. The photo with the pita on top is how it is brought to the table, and I also took a photo of how it looks with the pita removed.
In addition, there is a bakery counter along the West end of the restaurant. I highly recommend getting dessert there. The gentleman behind the counter is so friendly and very excited to share the baked goods him and his wife make right there, fresh every day. The caramel topped white cake is the BOMB! I know that's an old saying, but it is. The icing is a thick, creamy, yet buttery delight, almost custardy, but definitely a do not miss. I have been nibbling my way through it because I keep wanting to taste more, but don't want to run out.
Even though I rated a 4 for atmosphere for the few things that are of personal preference and not actual flaws, they get five stars overall for making our evening enjoyable and...
Read moreWe love this place and this is one of our favorite Go To place when we dine out and been a customer for atleast 2 years. The food are always great and customer service are good and crew are friendly. But the last 2 visit we did was very disappointing. went there last month To eat with our Baby and it took so long before our food was serve and the Rice was cold, kebab was undercook. My husband took it and they replace the meal but it took another almost 30mins before they serve our dish. Last night we went there To celebrate our wedding anniversary with our one year baby. My husband specifically requested that the meat should be well done and when they serve our meal the ground meat in mixed Kebab meal are still pink and not well done so my husband took them back and the guy who approached my husband ( he was just there walking around with a cup in his hand the whole time we were there) was so rude and asked my husband if we askEd To be well done and my he answered yes then the guy insisted that it is cooked even if you literally can see that the color is still pink inside and yes when it comes To meat we dont eat raw, or rare we want it well done and my husband wasted 10mins arguing with that guy then he finally took the plate and asked the kitchen to make another one. The Rice on my plate was Once again cold not even room temperature. We waited for another 30mins before my husband meal Arrived and the meat is still not well done and by that time our baby was cranky already so basically I ate all by myself and my husband brought his meal home and we didnt enjoy our anniversary dinner. What a disappointing experience in 2 visits in a row..
Picture was taken today as I brought some Leftover To work and still...
Read moreIs Pita Palace going to make it? There have been at least five different restaurants in that building and none of them have lasted very long. I went with my sister who loves the restaurant. My initial thought was that it was a Greek restaurant because of the Mediterranean in its name. Technically, it can be called Mediterranean but the food is more middle eastern. The tables have vaces with olive branches on them, so you will have to decide for yourself. When you come in, you order and pay at the counter, then pick a table and they bring your food to you. One of the nice things is that they do give you a menu with explanations of the food, so you don't have to stand at the counter with your neck stretched backwards trying to figure out what to order. I really found that helpful. The cashier was very kind and answered all my questions and helped me decide and pronounce Tawook vs Shawarma. I got Tawook and my sister got the Shawarma and we shared, so I was able to test both. I was impressed, the food was good as well as the service. I would recommend trying the restaurant. We have a large middle eastern population on Milwaukee's south side, so I'm thinking that this restaurant may...
