This one was a little different then my normal reviews, a little over a week ago I was approached by a lady that wanted to remain anonymous in the review process but wanted my opinion on this specific establishment while I was a little confused at the time because I thought this was just another coffee shop attached to a thrift store of sorts that I'd never been to before I agreed to do the review and am so glad I did.
First I would like to say I was very wrong this is NOT AN ORDINARY COFFEE SHOP ATTACHED TO A THRIFT STORE!
In more ways then one I see now it is truly a intrical part of the heart of Mineral Wells and why I was approached.
Whether you're coming in to eat a delicious meal from Coffee & Cocktails, sit on the patio and enjoy their LIVE MUSIC ON FRI & SAT nights 8pm to 11pm or to just grab a coffee/drink from the full bar to sip on as you shop for your latest seasonal decor, fresh packages of meats, jewelry, sweet & savory treats or gifts of all shapes sizes and categories you can trust that this place is a one stop shop for all of your holiday needs.
MY EXPERIENCE Visual - as soon as you walk in the first door you are over come with smells of deliciousness its then I realized I could either get a coffee at the window and walk around the shop or go into the restaurant, I chose to eat first and proceeded to the second door in to the restaurant where I was Greeted by Lynsie who was welcoming. She let me know I could sit anywhere and she would be with me in a moment. There was maybe 12 people in the dinning room including myself. Most seemed like they were satisfied with their meal and ready to go. As I got to the table I realized there is a small vase of fresh real carnations on the tables for an elegant touch. I looked around and was delighted to see 2 of their walls one as a chalk board drink menu and one announcements of the specials through the days of the week. The stained glass plains in the window caught my eye because they show different points of views from all walks of life. Luckily I was able to witness Ms. TJ turn the atmosphere of the restaurant from a spookey fall Halloween đ to a calm and cozy Christmas đ themed Wonderland with her beautiful new decorations.
FOOD/BEVERAGES As I looked over the menu I ordered an iced Caramel coffee which I quickly found out was better then a đ«đ”.
Michaela (Manager) and Lynsie the server did a great job helping me choose as I took a while to look over the menu and landed on their 76067 Club ( with a few modifications) I did no tomatoes and added mozzarella and the chicken pelablano soup. When it came out I was very impressed by how fresh and soft The croissant looked. The mozzarella was fresh, only to be outshined by the triple berry jam and how all the flavors complemented each other making this the best club I've ever had. The Chicken Pelablano soup had a bite to it for sure that was cut perfectly by dipping the club in it. All together this and the Monicristo sliders with chedder potato soup I took home to my children were an eye opening look in to the hidden treasures down town Mineral Wells and COFFEE & COCKTAILS...
Read moreIâm sure this is a perfectly good bar, and if it were called cocktails and coffee, the review might be higher than two stars. However, it is called coffee and cocktails which would indicate that itâs a coffee shop first and foremost. These people have NO Idea how to make a decent latte. They asked how many shots of syrup I wanted in my drink and then put the syrup in the milk before they steamed it. They only used about half the milk they steamed in my drink, so I only got half the amount of syrup I asked for. Also, their espresso shots are larger than normal so it throws off the ratio. The milk was not steamed correctly, and so had no froth at all.
The manager remade the drink and, to get the milk to froth, made it so I hot I couldnât drink it. However, when they remade it. I had them only put one shot of espresso in. This made it drinkable after about 10 minutes once it cooled down.
They donât have any recipes for their coffee drinks which means they clearly donât have a focus on good coffee. The espresso quality wasnât great.
They have lists of cocktails everywhere though. So, itâs probably a really good bar. They just shouldnât be advertising coffee as one of their specialties.
Update: I did let the staff know about this review, and kindly gave some constructive feedback as I think it would not take much effort for them to do better in the coffee department. I found out that their espresso shots are, in fact, 2.5 time larger than a standard espresso shot. So, if anyone is a real latte connoisseur, they are not going to enjoy the latte here as they would get the equipment of five shots of espresso and any drink that they ordered. Because, the ladies who work here were clear, they put two of those shots and every drink they make.
They were not receptive to my feedback at all, and in fact, seem offended. They would not let me pay for my coffee. They did not even say anything like: â since you didnât enjoy it very much. Itâs on the house. they just wouldnât let me pay for it, and made it clear by their attitudes didnât wanna talk to me anymore. This shouldnât have surprised me, as when I walked in and stood at the bar, no one greeted me for several minutes until one of the ladies got done making a cocktail for another person and then came and asked if if she could help me.
If you donât want constructive feedback, you shouldnât be working in the...
Read moreThe details of this review will sound as if it is negative towards the establishment and the bar staff but it is anything but that. I should start off by saying that I am a local and a patron of this establishment often.
On Saturday 2/12 there was a local event that provided alcohol to many locals in what the bartenders I am sure after seeing, thought to be a controlled environment. After the even was over many of the people DROVE no walked to this local establishment. You could tell that many of them were intoxicated yet the bartenders handled this with such professionalism.
A group of people insisted that they be served because âthey know the ownersâ and they felt they were entitled to continue to drink when the bartenders were not comfortable serving them. As a 25 year veteran bartender, it takes a lot to tell a customer that they are being cut off because they are showing physical signs of being intoxicated. The bartenders were not only physically touched in a manor that was inappropriate from picking up drinks but verbally abused from people from this local event to where they did not feel comfortable. The bartenders stood their ground (as they should) and cut the people off.
Too many people now a days donât care that the bartenders have their best interest at heart but this night, the girls did! You should be praising your staff for a job well done even in your absence. It doesnât matter who the owners are, it matters that people get home to their families! You need a local GM who knows betterâŠ
From time to time in the past I have been frustrated with the quality of service for this place, but this night I could have not been more proud of them!
There is no where else in town that we go so this is a very important thing that we witnessed, and I couldnât be more proud of the...
