My family ate out in the vicinity, and decided to try La Dolce next door. I have traveled the world, and I know a traditionally Italian desert might not be as perfect in Texas. However, I am deeply disappointed in the gelato we ordered. It tasted like tiramisu, as labeled, but it was very grainy. I’ll spare you the chemistry, but it is evidence of refreezing. It is a sign of a lack of freshness.
There is no telling if the issue is in the supply chain, as the workers informed me it wasn’t house made, or in the handling at the restaurant… potentially from when it is transferred from the packaging to the food grade container they scoop it out of. Who knows?
The sobretto was PERFECT! The atmosphere reminded me of a small Italian bistro. If I didn’t know better, I would say I was just across the street from the Trevi Fountain.
Overall, it is definitely worth the stop. I want to try their coffees and other deserts too. Plenty of room to upgrade from this...
Read moreStumbled upon this spot, so glad too. I had the mango & strawberry sorbet, it was delicious. My wife had the cookies & cream gelato, it was tasty as well, my 2yr old daughter had a scoop of the birthday cake Gelato, she ate every bit of it. Relaxed & cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, greeted upon entry. We will be back for more and to try the coffee and pastries....
