I ordered a Somali sandwich steak with feta cheese and I made sure to provide all the details. While waiting, the staff told me not to sit at the table, but I was just standing close, leaning forward, with my backside touching the table. After some time, I received the wrong sandwich. When I approached the manager, she insisted I was sitting at the table and promised a refund, which I never received. Instead, she dismissed me and called security, who witnessed the whole situation and knew I wasn’t actually sitting. I felt disrespected in a restaurant that should uphold better values. We've supported Afro Deli since its early days, but it seems like customer dignity is no longer a priority. The manager recognized me as a regular who always orders the same thing, yet she didn't even offer to correct my order or let me wait for it. After spending 20-30 minutes on parking and waiting, I left empty-handed and frustrated after driving 30 minutes for nothing. I took their pictures because she refused to allow me to take picture of the food !

Fast casual and healthy! The food is worth fighting through the parking. I like this as a spot to hide and talk with my friend, I did get to have a five hour lunch with one of my mentees, and we had the place to ourselves for most of the afternoon. They do stiff delivery business so you will see drivers going in and out all day. You can smell the variety of spices even before you get to the door. There is no bland food anywhere on this menu. If you are shy on spices , try, just ordering the chicken fantastic. The baked section and dessert section changes and runs out quickly. So if you want baked goods, better to get an early lunch. BONUS TIP; They also have hummus that you can take home that is quite delicious .

It says AFRO on the door but I thought I was in a Mexican Restaurant. I only saw what looked to be Latina employees with Latina music playing. I said I had not been in the restaurant before and they followed up with “well what do you want”. There must have been something lost in the translation. I had to have a customer help me order which I took to go. There were no napkins in the bag. When I asked for the napkins Jessica?? (“Yes-see-ka”) spit “thy are on the table” as if saying “what are you an idiot”? Bad enough we are treated so poorly…but being treated this way in a “AFRO” establishment. Where i go to support and be in safe haven with my people- Wow!! Jesus/Mohammed take the wheel.

Went in with a large group and we all ordered something different from the menu so we could all try each other's entrees. I decided to take us there because of the great reviews and recommendations through google search but sadly, as great as it smelled inside, the food did not deliver. Aside from the curry, which is hard to mess up, everything else was rather mediocre.

The Somali steak sandwich was just too dry for my taste. It was difficult to swallow without a drink and I also had to take smaller bites afterwards to compensate. The sambusas too were very dry and not very strong in flavor. The Chicken Fantastic tasted like there was something lacking, or perhaps I'm just not experienced enough with African flavors to realize that is what the entree is supposed to taste like. Whatever the reason, it's not something I'd order again. However, I am very sad to say I was unable to try the Afro Steak Dinner as it looked and smelled fantastic and looked to be the best choice on the menu. I hope to come back and give this deli another try. Service was excellent and very friendly and prices...

Placed an order here today at Riverside. Cashier Jessica is taking orders with gloves on. With the same vinyl gloves on, then goes into the freezer grabs a frozen burger patty hands it over to the cook. From there proceeds to put fries in a box. I was disgusted. I attempted to discreetly asked for my money back for my purchase due to risk of getting sick from cross contamination. She the gets upset with me stating she did not touch any money. I’m like are you serious? She was very difficult with me because I asked for my money back, due to her lack of hygiene, and professionalism. In hindsight she could have apologized, and offered to remake the order. But she chose to become combative and defensive. To add to my frustration the other customers are giving me the side eye like I caused the problem, good luck to them. I hope they have steel stomachs. I was nice about it, but Jessica got upset for being called out. Afro-deli, please educate this woman. I see a lot of good reviews, but I did not get star worthy service today. So zero...
