So glad I stumbled across this cafe! I am staying near U of M, and wanted a place where I could get breakfast and coffee, which Cafe Jote most definitely delivered on! I ordered the fuul and an iced latte, both of which were so good and well priced. The fuul (stewed fava beans topped with tomatoes, onions, peppers, & yogurt) especially was delicious and very filling--definitely would recommend trying! The ambiance of the cafe is really lovely as well--the interior is really bright with high ceilings and a few tables, and the outdoor patio was a great place to read and sip on my coffee. Finally, Jote himself was fantastic!! He was so sweet and made sure my food and drink were prepared to my liking. Read moreI had such a nice experience here. Stopped in for a coffee. Ordered a macchiato. It was a large and only comes with one shot. Barista suggested I add a shot or two. After drinking about a quarter cup I decided to take her up on it. They would not allow me to pay for it. Then, after trying a croissant (which was forgettable) I said that next time I'll be back to try the soup. She then fixed me a small plate to try the Ethiopian food they also had on the menu. The coffee is delicious, I appreciate the authenticity bring coffee and selling jewelry made from scratch, and I love the atmosphere. It's very small but in a cozy reading a book in a nook small.
