Everything we had was SO good, and it was piping hot! When we got there the line was out the door, but we did get there right at dinner time. We were set down quickly thankfully we did not have to wait very long before being seated. At the very most we probably waited about five minutes. After being seated they brought us our drinks and took our order quickly, the food also did not take long to arrive after placing our order. I would say maybe 15 to 20 minutes. It was fast considering how busy they were. The food was amazing! Honestly I would highly recommend going here and trying anything, this was our first time there and like I mentioned before the food was piping hot. Sometimes you go to restaurants and the food comes out warm or warm hot but this was extremely hot which was nice I’m not complaining. We ordered a wonton soup, sesame chicken, potstickers. When we ordered the wonton soup I was thinking they were going to bring out a much bigger bowl but it was much smaller the I expected but it was very delicious! The potstickers were so good, I’m sure they were home made since the breading on the potstickers was so soft and spongy they were very good. The sesame chick had some spice to it and sweet too, it was soft but also had good crunch. Would highly recommend 10/10 My over all experience was outstanding, I’ll most definitely be coming back. Everything was great I have zero complaints. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This restaurant has many rough edges. In my mind, this is like a B movie. It's unsophisticated, but it glows on you and you become an unintended cult member. The dinkytown is dinky no more with new buildings in every direction you look, but once you step into this restaurant, it's like traveling back in time. I had dined here when I was a fresh college student 30 years ago. It was cafeteria-like and the food was good but not something you write home about. As students, this was the place for affordable and decent Chinese food to enjoy with friends. Today the place still looks the same. There's the light box on the wall with the same poor handwritings and prices that were obviously overwritten many times. It's like the place is frozen in time. The only thing that changed are the people and of course the prices. Back to the food. It's Chinese American food on steroids. The dishes are good but overly drowned in sauce. They are perfectly acceptable, just don't compare them to real Chinese restaurants, with one exception. My absolutely favorite dish here is the ginger lobster with noodles. The freshness of the lobster and noodles soaked in the umami of the ginger and lobster made this dish out of this world! They absolutely nailed this.

Came here for lunch with the fam. Classic Chinese restaurant with simple good cooking. We ordered saute morning glory with garlic/ginger, sesame chicken, pork with veggies & garlic sauce and mafo tofu. The portions were huggeee, enough to feed 5-7 people. Had to call a friend to help us eat. The mafo tofu was slightly sweet for my taste. They gave plenty of ground pork; the most out of all the Chinese restaurants within a 20 miles radius. Taste is a preference thing and I would’ve like it more if they had put some sichuan pepper in this dish. I had to add their chili oil to make it my liking and reduce the sweetness. Sesame chicken: flavor was on point. All Chinese restaurants do this: some of the chicken pieces had no chicken in them. Just fried dough coated with sauce (can be deceiving to make it look like a lot of food on the plate). Morning Glory: I grew up on this dish, no complaint. Saute pork with veggies garlic sauce: best dish of the meal. We took left over home and it tasted even better 7 hours later.

Used to come here for the ample portions of affordable, tasty food. Being this close to a university, they used to cater to college students. Ordered takeout, expecting the black plastic container for the meat dish and a cardboard box for the rice. What I found out was that shrinkflation has hit Shuang Cheng HARD! The rice is now 50% less than before, and the main dish was packaged in the rice box. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. We frequent establishments on the quality and fairness of the locale. They could have advised us that they had doubled their prices, so we could choose to go elsewhere. $20 a person, and we ordered several meals. Leftovers no more. The food was also bland, lacking even enough salt. Something has changed, and it leans cheaply on the side of overpriced, not as good, and in my family's opinion, "not worth it anymore." For shame. Goodbye, and I am so sad to have to say we are never coming back.

First time here and a friend walks in and tells my kids that “this is the best Chinese restaurant in the Twin Cities”. We were seated right away as well walked in the door on a Friday night. There were able amount of people still in the restaurant. People were ordering takeouts also. Food came in relatively fast. Dishes were not as big as I thought they would be for the price. Prices were probably $1-$2 higher than what I’m used to seeing. Tasted pretty good. Fried chicken looked burnt but was really good! Assort meat & veggies Fun was good except the noodles were broken up. Didn’t look fresh. Triple delight was good, I’ve had better. Fried rice was a little sticky. Bus boy cleaned tables offend & server filled water often. I would definitely come back but it was not a 5 Star for me because it didn’t wow me.
