I’ve been wanting to check this place out since a friend of mine sells her pop tarts there (Fruit and Grain! They are delicious), and they were one of the participating business for Wild Rumpus’ Where’s Waldo search. My 7 yo and I stopped in last week to find Waldo and to get coffee. The employee ringing us up was so kind and offered to make a kid friendly matcha drink. The coffee is on point. My kiddo declared the drink the best she’s ever had (and this is a big deal considering her tastes veer towards Starbucks cake pops).
I decided to come back today to get more coffee and try the banh mi. So I grew up in Houston and had a ton of Vietnamese friends, and so I ate plenty of good Vietnamese food growing up. Caphín’s banh mi is the only banh mi I’ve had outside of Houston that tastes like the delicious banh mis I know and love. The description might be confusing at first, as it reads cold cuts, but these aren’t the American deli meats. It’s the legit Vietnamese cold sliced meat that is DELICIOUS. If you know, you know. The bread has the perfect crunch and give, and the sandwich is balanced with the right amount of pickled veggies, pate, mayo, jalapeño, and cucumber. It really beats out the banh mi from a certain local chain I used to frequent (which quality has really nose dived in the past few months). I live in Golden Valley, but I have decided I will drive to Linden Hills for this banh mi. It’s that good.
So many things to love about this place: great service, clean, cozy ambiance, delicious banh mi, woman-owned, small business. I am excited to visit and try more treats (and get more banh mi).
Also, businesses in the area are struggling with the construction going on. Support your...
Read moreFirst time visit. Their service is fast and friendly, the space is cute, has seatings for work, some plugins on the wall side if you wanna charge your laptops, free wifi, and the prices are pretty decent ($8.75 for a banh mi and less than $6 coffee items), cheapest item available is a tea pot (

It was pretty busy at 12pm on a Sunday when I visited, but even it being slightly overwhelming, the service was quick and everyone was friendly! I didn't have to wait too long for my drink to be made. I ordered the Pandan Latte which was made with whole milk and a shot of espresso. They do ask you if it's okay that they make it with whole milk, not sure if they have milk alternatives here but it wouldn't hurt to ask. Anyway, I would've ordered a bigger size if offered because the latte was delicious!! I was shocked because I wasn't really expecting much, but cue the ultimate compliment here, it was NOT too sweet. It had the perfect balance of pandan + espresso. It was smooooth! I could drink my bodyweight in that latte. I did notice that even for 3 hours later, my ice didn't really melt all that much. I do wish they added in less ice in for such a small size cup, but I can definitely ask to go light on the ice next time.
Highly recommend this spot!! I'll be back and I'll be telling all my...
