Big open energy. Casual corner cafe and bakery. Lovely local spot with amazing bread, soups and a few good breakfast options.
My move is to grab a wedge of cheese at the first display by the door (usually Cotswold), order a soup no matter what (usually tomato or potato based, but they're all good) and if I'm hungry - get the turtle breakfast (which is a huge portion and will definitely fill you up by itself but is so tasty and fun to mix with the soup and cheese).
Side note: if you ever see the mushroom lovers pasta salad in the deli display it's amazing and you should get it.
They also keep all their condiments, butters, jams, sauces, salt, pepper, water and coffee and Togo containers out in the dining area so you can get as much or as little as you want without having to wait for or bother anyone.
It's important to know that soups are usually ready around 11:00am and that the chocolate loaf is only available on...
Read moreI had never been to this place, as it is far from where I live and work. Met a client there, who lives nearby. The place is not very conveniently located, with no easy highway access, no matter which direction you come from. Neighborhood is a big funky, and so is the building and the store. The latter is just a big room with lots of tables, merchandise displayed in a haphazard fashion and lots of empty shelves. But since it was in the middle of the afternoon I just had a piece of pie (cranberry-pear), which was rather large and tasted good, although the crust was too thick and hard. We also each had a cup of coffee (latte for me), which was OK. The total came to $18 ($20 with tip), which I found high for what was provided. Patrick's Bakery and P46, to pick two local competitors, do a much better job,...
Read moreTurtle Bread would be a solid 4 stars if their customer service weren’t so poor. Their soups are delicious and they have great sandwiches and outstanding breakfast potatoes.
Their customer service is so frustrating it makes us not want to go here. They are also one of the many places that asks for an outlandish tip (on the iPad) for a place where you order at a counter and pick up your own silverware and water, which I personally find to be very rude.
For some reason, they do not allow you to get a cup of soup as a side for any price, which is annoying because then you’re stuck with another side you don’t want. They don’t even let you get tomato soup with grilled cheese!
I would recommend going here for the food but I can’t in good faith give it a higher rating based on the...
