Whatever you do, watch how much you are charged.
After having a few good experiences at East Village Grill, my wife and I had dinner there tonight. The food was good and the service was fine, like it has been consistently.
However, when it came time to ring up, our bill was over-charged by a third. Cup of tea on the menu for $1.89? We were charged $6. Two meals, each $10.99? We were charged $28 for them both. Mango shake, on the menu for $2.99? Make that $4.
When we asked the hostess about the charges (and even to clarify which was which), we heard various explanations such as these:
"What we served you is better than was on the menu" "I told my husband to change the menu but he hasn't yet" "At other restaurants you would pay much more for this food"
Eventually we paid a reduced (but still very over-billed) bill and left. We live very close to this restaurant and I am sad that I may never return. They serve good food, but I can't stand the thought of patronizing a business that swindles, lies, and cheats its customers out of money.
If you still want to go, the food is good. Just watch your bill so you don't get cheated...

I would give more than 1 star because the gyros and fries were delicious. However, being significantly over charged for our meal is not acceptable!
On Friday, my son and I decided to try some place new in the area for lunch. The lunch special caught our attention. Gyro sandwich with fries and drink for $7.99. We both ordered the lunch special and shared a falafel appetizer which was $5.99. The total before taxes should be $21.97. When the lady rang us up the total was $30.10! I know taxes are high in Minnesota but that's crazy!
When I asked why bill is so high, the lady said the lunch special ended at 1pm and we had to pay the non lunch special price since it after that time. I said we ordered and ate before the lunch special ended. Why am I paying more? She just pointed to the register and said the lunch special was over. I pressed my case more but she would only reduce the price a couple of dollars.
I would have pressed my case more but I had to get back to work. Needless to stay this a one and done place. Tried it once and I'm done! Not a place I will ever...

This place is awful from the moment you walk into the door! There is no place to walk up to and order "To-Go"...It's smells unclean. The bathrooms appear as if they have never been cleaned. There is NO soap or dispenser for soap and NO paper towels. I suppose you don't need paper towels when you can't wash your hands!?
I actually ordered fries to go before choosing to use the restroom while I waited for my fries....they hadn't charged me yet. And I'm happy they did not because that is the only positive thing I can say about this place....ONLY because it allowed me to LEAVE without my order!! I would never consume anything that comes from such an "establishment!"
How the inspectors have not shut this place down as of yet... I have...
