First time ordering a burrito from this place. They should rename it "Food Ball". There is so much food stuffed in the tortilla, it is not something you are going to pick up and take a bite from. One is very sharable for two people, and it re-heated very well in the microwave. The staff of three was very busy on a Friday evening, too busy to separate those who were lining up to order, and those who had ordered online, their order was already prepped and paid for (like me), and just waiting for someone to hand it over, so I had to wait behind several people. 5 stars next time if they assign someone to attend to preordered, prepaid customers! UPDATE: Changed to 5 stars as they seem to have made adjustments for online orders, as they are certainly getting a lot more of them! Just ordered a tinga burrito bowl with their spiciest salsa, and its still so flavorful and portions still so generous. We are fortunate to have so many good options for Mexican cuisine in this neighborhood, but Habanero...
Read moreSo- to start off I’m an Oklahoma Mexican. And I’ve just spent two weeks with my family in Oklahoma eating my abuelitas spicy delicious food which is why I’m recognizing my bias already and why this review might not be the most fair or reliable. But I got back to Minnesota at 2am and spent 3 hours crying about missing my family already. So today I ordered from here because every time I’m homesick, I get Mexican food. I got the Al pastor burrito and asked for the spiciest, and instead I feel like I got the sweetest. Maybe it was the big chunks of pineapple. I’m fine with pineapple because I understand that’s a huge part of marination, my family does that too. But it was just REALLY SWEET and I could barely taste the spicy. It was delicious in terms of the rest, but I like my food spicy. Not sweet. Even my husband who can barely handle my food sometimes said it was just so weak. I’m willing to try this place again but I hope and pray someone reads this and asks for NO BIG PIÑA chunks....
Read moreAn unassuming little joint just east of the often written about Mexican restaurants on Lake St. The Lake St. corridor has so many decent Mexican dining options that I find it hard to believe more will get into the game. Every time I visit Mpls I go to a different place to get tacos with my daughter. Ended up here by chance and almost missed it in the bright sunshine and shrubs that kind of hide it in plain site. Had to peek in the window to see if they were open and lucky for us they were. A one woman show (at least at the flat top grill) taking orders and serving fresh mouthwatering food. 4$ for a carne asada taco is on the high end but the size of them made you feel like it was a good deal. Chips and salsa were ho hum but that seems somewhat common. Their was a taco truck out front so they must also be mobile and the space inside maybe seats 8 to 10 people. I like the place. Simple menu including a couple breakfast items. Mexican sodas as well as coke products available...
