The pickup servers behind the counter are incredibly rude.
I worked in the hospitality industry for years, nearly 20 years at Caesars Palace, in Las Vegas, and several high end restaurants for decades.
I understand that when you are busy, it is hard to maintain composure. However, snapping on guests and handling their bagged meals like a punching to get your frustration out is totally pointless. Maybe it's the low wages and poor management skills, and perhaps it's the franchise management demanding cuts, more productivity for less pay. It could be several reasons or all the above.
Corporate needs to reevaluate the production line from package to guest.
I would look at drive-through and counter service as two dining rooms that to run each one well you need a separate food runner to each one. None of this one person running the food to two places. Perhaps color code the ticket items to easily identify dining room or pickup counter.
That's my two cents, free advice from a professional restaurant consultant.
Note: I don't eat McDonald's much at all as I just deliver on the side as a retiree.

Read moreI personally don't do fast foods like this place often. But, last week the homeowner's kids wanted to go for lunch. I placed an order the cashier repeated it we filled their beverages and grabbed the order to go. At home 2 of 3 quarterpounders were not as ordered. I was not surprised and called the restaurant to just give a heads up that cashier error plus customer error (mine) of not reading receipt equals mistake. Manager was alittle taken back that I didn't demand free food. Why should I it was half my fault. I did the survey which gives a BOGO sandwich anyways. Well about an hour later I received a phone call from store manager who read my survey and I reassured her I was equal on the misorder and not to blame the employee. She offered 3 free burgers for the inconvenience and I thanked her then and now for the outstanding customer service this establishment has given me on the in frequency of my visits. We went in today for those said burgers, getting them correct this, time plus we ordered fries and beverages. Dined in it is a very clean place with extremely friendly and helpful staff. Hands down the best d@mn Mickie D's I have...
Read moreSince they built the new place, the drive thru is always busy. Way too busy for me.
So I got the app. Now I can order before I get there, pull in to one of the numbered spots, enter the number in the app, and they bring the food to my car (until 9 pm). You also get points for free food when you use the app. Love it! No more confusion at the drive thru speaker about what I'm asking for. No more stop and go, waiting forever for someone to get "special" orders, or deciding who is first in line where the two order speakers merge to 1 lane.
My big complaint is the fries. They've sometimes been sitting around a while. McDonalds fries used to be great, but they just aren't world famous any more. I started to get just the sandwich if I'm taking it home. Sandwich and a drink if not.
I do wish they would bring back that jalapeño cheese sauce burger. I only got to have it 2 times and now it's gone! Also no more breakfast items after 10:30. I would get their hashbrowns over their fries all day long, but I guess breakfast sandwiches and hashbrowns after 10:30 were too...
