Super disappointed with my experience here. As we all know, MN has a lot of great food options and food culture in general, but deli’s and a place with good sandwich options for lunch has always been an issue here. When this opened up near me, I was ecstatic. First time going, 6/5. I got the Dino panino and thought it was the best sandwich I’ve ever had. Second order, they skimped quite a bit on the meat compared to the first time (cost savings?) but it didn’t phase me cause it was still that good. The following time, they were out of the Dino so I got the muffuletta. Pretty good. Now it was time for a Dino again. The thing came out cold. It was actually worse than cold, it was like they attempted to heat it up but the microwave or something went out 10 seconds in. Just lukewarm slop. It’s a panini. I was starving, so I had about half of it, but then brought it in and told them they need to heat this up next time (it’s a panini once again) and was told by a maybe 14 year old child “my bad” (child labor??). Any other place would have at least attempted to refund a $20 sandwich.
Honestly, the 1 star review is maybe not fair, because the previous experiences were so good. I’m just so disappointed. Every place does this. Gets their legs under them, then instantly has to cut costs and price gouge. I get you only want to pay your employees a non living wage. The American dream. But how do you think that translates to the consumer with quality/service? That’s what I’m so disappointed about. North Star 100% has the potential to be the best sandwich spot in the cities, but barely lasted a month at that top spot due to… well… greed. Can anyone be...
Read moreI love supporting local establishments and I really wanted to like this place, but the food and experience fell way short. I get that I'm in the minority, but I won't be going back any time soon.
First, the online menu doesn't include descriptions of all the items on the menu, which I know is a small annoyance, but an annoyance nonetheless.
The menu on the wall inside the cramped space does describe each item, so we ordered the old-fashioned way. I asked for no-mayo on my sandwich and after hubby ordered his, we were told our order would be ready in 10 minutes. Twenty-five minutes later, it finally came out and guess what? There was mayo on my sandwich. We'd already spent too much time there so I wasn't going to send it back.
Knives and forks were hard to come by, too.
The bottom line is, if I'm going to pay $15 for a sandwich, I want it to be what I ordered. I know the place is new so hopefully they'll iron...
Read moreFood: we had the bacon melt and the Herb Brooks Focaccia. The Focaccia was very good with a nice balance. The bacon melt was overly salty with the combination of buckboard bacon and Swiss cheese. The bread was also very soggy and overly buttery.
Service: it took 25 minutes to get our two sandwiches. Customers who came in and ordered after us got their food before us. It was disappointing. And the prices on the ordering kiosk did not match what was on the menu board.
Atmosphere: it’s crowded as there are only a few inside seating options, and about 5 tables outside. Will this place be 99% takeout in the cold seasons?
Overall it was disappointing to spend over $40 on two combos and have to wait so long. It’s been open for over a month and I hope that the operation improves. There’s a lot of potential here that just hasn’t...
