I will start with this.. I am a delivery driver that delivers for many different restaurants, where some are partners that have us enter the back and pick up food there. So, as I'm walking up to Seward Cafe I see a bright yellow door that says delivery. In my mind that translates to delivery service people enter here. I walk through the door to this space where people order except I'm on the employee side. Normal to me. Then this person, and I'm going to try to explain what they look like so Seward Cafe's owners are aware. Couldn't tell if they were a man or woman, but I think just a heavy set male with greasy wavy hair underneath a cap. He was incredibly rude to me throughout my entire time in the cafe. His face greeted me when I walked through that door shouting to "get out. Employees only." in front of other customers. I was really startled and left to the other entrance. Then I waited for a little while to get the food which came in 2 dinner boxes and 1 soup cup with a tin foil wrapped bun. I signed the receipt and he just shoved the boxes toward me a little and walked away. So I asked if I could get a bag. He scuffed at the notion of me wanting a bag and begrudgingly stomped over to the bags and brought a bag that was then tossed my way on to the counter. No help putting the items in the box, not even an offer. He had moved on to the next customer. So I attempted to place the boxes in the bag, clearly struggling, and half of the sandwich and chips of one box fell out. I expressed what just happened and luckily a woman employee was there to ask if I wanted a new sandwich. Not in the nicest way but at least offered. So she gave the command to the cooks who proceed to complain about making a simple sandwich again and throwing in some chips. The angry guy from before threw in that he didn't think they should remake the sandwich at all. I was really uncomfortable the entire time in the restaurant and don't recommend anyone ever waste their time or money at the...
Read moreA snazzy little cafe on the Franklin just off the highway. This restaurant functions a little differently than others, but the food is pretty good for the value. When you come in you can seat yourself and put your order in at the register. Tons of indoor and outdoor seating and fun things to check out on the walls. Free Wifi is easily accessible and posted in a few spots. They'll call out when the drinks and food is ready and you'll have to pick that and utensils up yourself. They note that it'll take a bit, but as long as you keep yourself occupied, it's not really noticeable and is certainly worth the wait. Mocha was definitely one of the better ones I've had in the Twin Cities. The Super Red Earth was pretty big and a solid breakfast item that was very filling. Overall, a pretty fun and progressive vibe that's nice to just sit and chill in for a while and get some good food. Was pretty quiet for breakfast, but seemed to start getting packed around brunch/lunchtime. Very vegan friendly menu for those who prefer it, and thankfully not crazily upcharged, and still plenty of options for those who don't swing that way. Definitely...
Read moreI've been a customer going waay back, but several years ago have moved further away, so my visits are much rarer now. It still has the hippy vibe, which has been my jam all along. My most recent visit was disappointing and did not live up to previous visits over the years. The B&G have been the best I've found dining out- and vegan to boot! This time though, this dish was a little different. I don't know if they tweaked the recipe or something, they just weren't quite the same as the dish I have come to love. The hasbrowns were so brown, dark, and overcooked, they were unedible...and I am not picky. The food was also cold/lukewarm- I got my order as soon as I was called and I was listening intently, so I feel confident I didnt miss it. I don't know if I like the interior being stripped of a decent amount of seating either, however it is nice they have a stage and comfy chairs. I hope this experience was just a bump in the road and next time I visit, it will be the Seward Cafe that I fell...
