Minneola Grill — Restaurant in Minneola

I went here a little while back with my business partner for a morning meeting. I had initially thought that this place was gonna be great with how busy it was. We got our table and ordered our food. Prices seemed reasonable for the portion size that they are.

The problem came with the hash browns I was served with my order. I personally like my hash browns completely crispy. I do not personally like the white mush that some places serve them as.

When the server came by and asked how things were, I politely asked if they could have the hash browns cooked where they were completely crispy, not just the top. She told me no problem and took the plate to the kitchen. When she came back with them it appears that all that was done was exposing the hash browns to excessive heat. The top was now nearly burnt to a crisp, I lifted the top layer with my fork but the rest were still completely mush. I didn't even try to eat them.

When we checked out to pay, she asked how they turned out and I told her they didn't really come out any better. She said "Maybe next time you should order something different then."

I've never been back and likely never will based on this...

Today we ate here and finished our meal very happy. The parking lot is a little beaten up and the building does not look very impressive from the outside but please don't let that fool you. I've come here before and there's always a ton of people eating at this great place. Upon entrance we were greeted immediately and given a nice seat. The proprietor told us the specials and informed us on what we could order which at 10:30 was breakfast and lunch. She was friendly and gave the best service I've had in a long time. We both started with the potato and bacon soup. It was season perfectly and didn't need anything else also a huge portion. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with french fries and my wife ordered the buffalo chicken tenders with coleslaw. The burger was enormous and came with a whole bunch of onions lettuce tomato on a very soft and delicious bun. My wife's buffalo chicken tenders were amazing. She said it had excellent sauce and it was very fresh chicken. I will definitely frequent this establishment as I really enjoyed the quality and the service. We were exploring small town Florida just outside Orlando and wound up in Minneola. Turned out to be a lovely drive and an equally wonderful combination of old and new Florida. All the modern conveniences you could need and all the charm and small town feel you would want. If this isn’t reason enough to visit you can cap your Minneola experience with lunch at the Minneola Grill. I’m of an age that said, “you don’t really know your neighborhood until you know the nearest Mom n’Pop restaurant.” This is the place in Minneola! If you are lucky enough to meet the owners, the wife from England and the husband from Italy, don’t be afraid of how your food will be prepared. This is 100% authentic American taste but prepared with the skill and care of Europe. I understand you can’t franchise this kind of magic but if you could I’d be proud to own one.
