After a few year hiatus, we recently gave Jimmy's another shot. After this experience, we won't be back. Incredibly rude hostess, and puny appetizer portion size. First, Jimmy's used to be our go-to restaurant for any special occasion, as the food was so good, and the dining experience/staff was exceptional. Beautiful restaurant and everyone in our family loved going there. We noticed a downward trend in the quality of the food, so we stopped going. Recently, we decided to go back for happy hour. We reserved a high top in the bar for 3:30. When we arrived, the hostess immediately let us know that we had until 5:30, due to another reservation at our table. I found that a bit off-putting, but OK, that's fine. This is where it went further downhill. My wife ordered the beef tenderloin skewers which, when presented we thought was a joke. The portion size was so small each of the three pieces was literally one bite each. My meatloaf was tasty, but on the smaller side. I understand and appreciate that inflation has made it very hard for operators, but charge more then so we can receive a reasonable portion of food. We definitely did not feel like we received our money's worth. That said, we were enjoying ourselves until that pesky hostess abruptly came up to our table at 5:04 and said "so....the next party for this table is here, you need to leave". 26 minutes before our "allotted time". Rather than make a stink about it, we simply paid our bill and left....and won't be back. I don't fault the hostess for this, as I'm sure she's just following protocol, but that was really unprofessional, and a couple nearby asked us afterwards what happened and we let them know we were being kicked out. Not a good look. My advice is 1. If you're going to accept reservations that you make it clear at that time that it is for a limited amount of time. Had we known that, we simply wouldn't have come at all. 2. Don't kick out your patrons 26 minutes ahead of the time you gave them. There are too many other quality restaurants out there to choose from to put...
Read moreTwice or three times I have been here, have been exclusively business occasions, and I was able to witness other events of similar nature, where people were mainly having business conversations, and the establishment was packed because of such. I think the fact that it is located in Minnetonka, amongst many company buildings, made it a convenient location for such. However, from a food perspective, I must say that everything fell short.
I didn't take many photos due to not wanting to disrupt the occasion with my foodie habits, but I have had the Brussels sprouts and the salmon piccata. I have had the prime steakhouse meatloaf 2 years ago when first visiting this establishment. From my perspective, all the meat was very dry to the point that it started shrinking, and every bit of wetness on the meat was oil rather than the meat itself being juicy. The sides were also very small and sloppily placed, although I don't have a photo to showcase such. I have had the green beans and other veggies (2 years ago) as sides and the amount was tiny and the veggies looked quite pathetic. Apologies for the word choice here
The Brussel sprouts appetizer were extremely dry, which I understood that frying could do such, but even then it was very much overcooked. They tasted bitter and way too crispy, and the sizes have shrunk as well. The parmesan cheese on the top, which was for sure the cheap kind instead of Parmegiano Reggiano, did not offer an extra layer of pleasant taste for the Brussel sprouts.
Unfortunately I do not recommend those who want to visit for pleasantries or any other purposes where they're obligated to attend for...
Read moreThey do a great job when you have 1 guest in your party, but when you have a larger group, they struggle with everything. We had booked for 26 people, they chose how to seat us and they did a table if 12, table of 6 and table of 8. They served the same number if appetizers to each table, so the table of 12 didn’t even have a bite of most. Upon request, they brought more. There were large delays; Ie the first food served came after we had been there for over 90 min(apps were preordered). When they served salads and entrees, there were large gaps within the table before everyone had their food. They refused to change out the pasta for one guest at our table, but apparently ran out of pasta that it was supposed to come with and substituted a different one. Drinks regularly took 10 min, even if just sodas. They plated our dessert, but many of us received a 1” piece of cheesecake and others had 3”. Literally one bite. They served their capellini caprese entree with shrimp(server said they had never done that before). The filet mignon fettuccine had no description attached to it, but had 3-4 1/4”pieces of filet in it and was in a cream sauce. I have absolutely loved their food and service when I had one dining partner, but their group service is pathetic. We struggled to find a place in the area w/ a private room. The service wasn’t adequate for the group size, the kitchen struggled with it. Management only popped in once. There were no apologies for food nor beverage delays. Do not bring a larger bilusiness group; you will be embarrassed by...
