I wish I would have take photos to share, but you don't need them. All the food at JC's looks exactly like it does on the website. I stumbled upon this gem during their "soft opening" period after having car troubles and missed lunch. I stopped in around 4 pm hungry as could be. So of course I ordered more than I could possible eat in one sitting. I started with the meatballs and some wings for dine in and got a Pizza and Lasagna to go! The meatball lollipops were huge, perfectly cooked, moist, rounds of heaven. the red sauce on it was delicious! Not too thick, not to thin, plenty of tomato bits in it, and just covered in grated AND shaved parm. The 4 of them could have been a meal in itself. I couldn't decide on a wing flavor, and so they were willing to split the 8 wings into two different dry rub flavors for me. Both the Garlic & Onion and also the blackened cajun were FANtastic! The coal oven roasting method of preparing these was exactly how they should be cooked! Oh, and then there's the homemade ranch sauce that went perfectly with them! For the next two days, I ate the leftover lasagna and pizza. It was still soo good two days later, I cant even image the flavors that would have been in these dishes hot out of the oven! The staff was just delightful and so friendly and cared about the diners experience and time spent there. I couldnt' decide witch pizza I wanted so the actually over to do half and half, even of the specialty pizzas on the menu! Both were amazing, I had the greek on one half and Al & Mics Capolino on the other have. It wasn't the wood fired pizza I love so much, but their coal fired ovens are the closest thing ive ever had. I recommend this establishement 100% to anyone within 45-60 minutes of it to go, and go often. If you live farther away, just plan a trip and you'll be back.
My only recommendation to them as a new restaurant is to put some sound dampening effects inside the dining room. It is a fairly large room with open spaces and hard surfaces, so if it were busier ( and it will be ) it will most likely be fairly loud inside.
Well done to the owner, manager, and the kitchen and...
Read moreOur family of five had a nice dinner here. We were greeted warmly at the door by someone who genuinely seemed happy to see us, which my wife and I appreciated, especially after spending over 20 years combined working in local restaurants like this in Indy. Our server was new but very kind and welcoming. Drinks took a bit longer than expected, but they brought the kidsâ meals out quickly, which was a nice touch. The food across the board was very good.
That said, the pricing sucks for a family of five. Iâm someone that does ok financially, but even then, places like this remind me my we rarely go out to eat anymore.
The kidsâ meals were $10 each. The small cheese pizza was worth it, but the other twoâone being just a single (not particularly large) meatball, and the other a bowl of buttered noodles with parmesanâfelt overpriced. Maybe drinks were included, which helps, but still, the value wasnât quite there. If youâre going to charge $10 for plain noodles, maybe consider making it bottomless for kids who can eat. And a single meatball for $10? That one was tough.
Our full tab included: ⢠Spinach Artichoke Dip (very good!) ⢠One 14â cheese and pepperoni pizza with hot honey (delicious!) ⢠One small cheese pizza (also great!) ⢠One kidsâ buttered noodles meal ⢠One kidsâ meatball meal (just the meatball) ⢠One glass of wine for my wife ⢠One glass of wine for me ⢠One beer
All of the food and drinks were goodâno complaints there. But the total came to over $100, and then we were hit with a $3 credit card surcharge.
That surcharge felt like a sucker punch after already paying premium prices, tax, tip, and now extra just to use a card. I get that their POS system (Toast) passes high card processing fees onto the restaurant, but from a customer standpoint, it doesnât sit well.
To be clear, our issue isnât with the people or the quality of the foodâthey were both great. Itâs just frustrating that a casual dinner out with your family can end up feeling like such a splurge. Families shouldnât have to brace for a triple-digit bill at a neighborhood spot serving...
Read moreIâve been ordering from this coal-fired pizzeria since they opened, and it never disappoints. Dinoâs BBQ Chicken is my go-toâroasted chicken breast, crispy bacon, gooey cheddar and mozzarella, all kissed by a bold BBQ sauce. Jacob Gâs Boss Pie is the ultimate carnivoreâs dream, piled high with Italian sausage, ham, pepperoni, and bacon, then finished with a drizzle of roasted garlic oil. Emilyâs Chicken Bruschetta is a revelationâjuicy roasted chicken breast, vibrant bruschetta mix, earthy mushrooms, fresh basil, melty mozzarella and feta, all drizzled with balsamic glaze and their signature garlic oil.
The shareables are equally outstanding. Pax & Ariâs Garlic Cheese Bread is molten-cheese blissâcrispy on the outside, soft and garlicky inside, served with house-made marinara. Maryâs Buffalo Chicken Dip blends roasted chicken, cream cheese, and buffalo sauce, then gets a light coal-char finish that takes it to the next level. And Kassâs Rock City Chopped Salad offers a refreshing crunch of pepperoni, salami, olives, tomatoes, provolone, and romaine, all tossed in JCâs Italian dressing.
From the moment you walk in (or place an order), the team treats you like familyâwarm, attentive, and passionate about every dish. Whether youâre craving meat, veggies, or appetizers, this spot delivers exceptional coal-fired flavor and outstanding service every single time....
