As someone who used to use Country Inns and Suites many years ago, it is becoming abundantly clear that this chain of hotels is much better the further south you go and much worse the further north you go. When I used this chain a little over a year ago in Tennessee, I was abundantly surprised at how clean and well-kept it was. I used this chain the week prior in Kentucky. Again, not as good as Tennessee but definitely better than this past day. This past weekend we chose this chain over a much cheaper line of hotels expecting much more than we got. Here’s where I will start: When I first checked in I couldn’t even get the door to my room open. After walking all the way down to the end of the hallway (as we were the very last room on the floor), I had to walk all the way back to the front desk with my duffel bags to ask why I couldn’t get into my room. It was then that the front desk clerk let me know that the only way I can get into my room is to lift the handle instead of pushing down on it because the handle doesn’t work correctly. OK, so it took me a minute to get used to it, but I got in. I did have trouble almost every time I opened the door, but was able to eventually get my door open. However, if my children left the room to go get ice, (ages 13 and 10), they were unable to get the door open at all. As my husband parked at the side door and was helping unload the rest of the car, I kept trying to use my room key to open the outside door and the key swiper did not work. However, my husband didn't know and just grabbed the door and yanked. Well, that outside door opened right up without the need for a key! That lack of security made me very uneasy considering I was the first room by an unlocked exterior door at all hours of the night. Very unsafe! The next morning we got up for breakfast. Breakfast was fantastic for a hotel. One of the reasons why I like this chain of hotels. The breakfast did not disappoint and the girl that was keeping everything stocked did a very good job and was very polite. Another glitch we found inside the room was our bathroom door. Not only did it not open up completely because it got stuck on the floor, but when somebody was in the bathroom and locked the door, one of the kids grabbed the door just to grab something that they needed while another family member was in the shower, they found out that the lock popped itself open upon turning. Again, not very comforting for somebody else like an adult who might need that privacy to change. My husband was unable to use the Wi-Fi to get any work done at all. I even went down to the front desk to let them know that I could only get Wi-Fi if I was standing at the entrance to my room. Or in the hallway, or anywhere in the front lobby. She said she would tell somebody in maintenance to come and check it out. When we got back in our room after the baseball tournaments for our children, it was late and the Wi-Fi still was not working. The next morning at breakfast I walked over to the girl at the front desk and I told her the Wi-Fi still was not working. She said to me: well, maybe he didn’t make it down to check out your room then - I’m really not sure why it doesn’t work for you. Ummm, that’s interesting. Isn’t it your job to follow up that somebody is supposed check on the room to make sure it has been corrected and adjusted? So we went the whole weekend without any Wi-Fi service at all. Made for a very difficult Sunday night at home playing catch-up before going back to work on Monday. Not pleased with this AT ALL. The only highlight of this day was the manager allowed the pool to stay open a little bit later because these kids were playing baseball all day and didn’t get a lot of pool time. So the kids were extremely pleased with the hotel (pool) while the adults were not so pleased (everything else). I am more discouraged of the fact that I paid close to $100 a night for a hotel that I’ve had similar service that I would pay $59 a night. Can’t say that I would ever choose to stay at this...
Read moreWell, it started out with the pool party for my granddaughter to the Indian manager threatening my daughter they didn't want to pay her her money back still to this day. Have not paid her the $100 back. She never stayed in the room. They because of the bed bugs, the bed, bugs and the service was horrible. Arbo, now my daughter was accused because she's African. American black of having have brought the bed bugs to the hotel when they're all kinds of people that are living there from every walks of a walk alive. I didn't appreciate it. And I'm very angry about it to this day. Now we did call the the manager of the hotel who still has not made good of the situation and probably won't do the Indian manager at night. Set. My daughter out kicked her throughout the hotel and my 3 grandchildren, a baby where it was like literally in the 30s. Made them sit outside to she can get a Uber or a cab. Got the Uber finally came the Indian guy lied to the police and said that the guy the Uber driver had a stolen car so they were pulled over which the police officer told us everything that happened just lies. I can't deal with it. Now my daughter was bitten by the bed. Bugs, she does have pictures of it and the baby was bitten. Just sad very unprofessional, now. Maybe some people are used to living like that, but we're not even the Indian guy said thit. Did my daughter brought him to what you have homeless people that live there? Truck drivers coming all through the night. People standing outside smoking.Whatever they smoke.I mean, it's not clean, is mildew? And I would say from looking at the picture. It was Black? Mildew. Some kind of something coming out of the ceiling. It's just horrible is my granddaughter's eighth birthday? Never got to even enjoy yourself. Have end up having to leave the cake and all her little stuff that she had received at the hotel. My daughter didn't want to be at home thinking. Maybe there were bedbugs in it had to throw the clothes and stuff away. Because the bags were on the floor now. I would say to the Indian guy that harassed my daughter that night. If anybody was to bring bed bugs into the place it would more likely been you. I think the manager's name is Allen. Very unprofessional, and I'm still very upset about it. Love anything change this outcome back and fix my comment. But otherwise this is what it was and this is what we were scheduled. A friend of mine scheduled a conference there. They were gonna rent many rooms. But after this situation they've canceled and I would just say beware of the bed bugs. I mean, unless, that was 2 months, 3 months ago 2 months ago and so unless they've gotten taken care of otherwise, you're going in at your own risk. Trust me, all these places, they moved her to 23 different rooms. Each room got worse, each room got worse. I was on the phone on the video when the guy was talking to my daughter and the way he talked to her. I'm just so patheti, mean cause really had her dad been in town. He's in the military had he been in town.I guarantee would have won a don't totally different way. Poor management, poor everything is a deception. You drive up on it look like it's gonna be a nice place but when you get inside you're...
Read moreWhen we first arrived, we felt it was a cute, clean facility. We were staying in a King Jacuzzi Suite, and got our key. The second the door to our room opened, it reeked of marijuana. We decided to take a walk around the facility and explore to give the scent a chance to subside before we complained. We ended up in the fitness center for a quick workout, where they had a water dispenser completely empty. Slightly annoyed, we decided to go check our room again. When we opened the door, the scent was even stronger. We went ahead and went down to the front desk, where we explained our issue, and the attendant gave us a different room without issues. Once we walked into this room, it also reeked. It was directly next door to the last room, so it wasn’t totally surprising. The front desk attendant was walking past our room and asked if this one was better, and I invited her in to smell it, just in case we were going crazy. She also smelled it, and gave us the key to the last room that was a whirlpool suite. This one was much better, and we thanked her. The next day, we went down to enjoy the breakfast. We headed down an hour and a half before breakfast closed. They were low stock on everything, no forks available, and just a bit disorganized. We didn’t complain, and decided to make do with what was available. Then, as check out time was approaching us, we had a housekeeper walk in to our room, no knock, just a “oh. Sorry”. We kind of laughed it off, until 2 minutes later, she knocked on the door saying “housekeeping”, which we told her “just a second”. She then yelled through the door, “are you extending?” And I yelled back, “no.” She screamed back, “then it’s time to check out!” It wasn’t past time, and if I’m paying for a hotel suite with no rush to get anywhere, you can bet I’m getting every minute I can. At this point, we were very annoyed and just got our stuff and left. We stayed in the parking lot for a while after checking out, where the same housekeeper so annoyed with our existence stood outside smoking for HALF AN HOUR after we checked out. Really rushed us out to not clean our room immediately! Did I mention when we turned on the jacuzzi jets prior to getting into it, clumps of hair came flying out of the jets? ¯(ツ)/¯ Only one bath towel was in our room, the light above the jacuzzi flickered and sucked. Everything. Sucked. The entire place was dirty. The bathtub was gross, the hallway was gross, it was very loud in our room. You could hear everything from everywhere. This stay was atrocious, and I was absolutely disgusted by the way that the housekeeper acted. We only booked this room because it was the only jacuzzi suite in the area available for the night. I understand why it was...
