The best way I could describe Werner's is as a leading compliment to the Kansas City Barbeque culture. The most similar store I've found to it is McGonigle's but Werner's has done a much better job at specializing in what the other stores/restaurants don't and you are not going to find the unique variety, and at their quality, anywhere else in town. The owners/staff are great people that seem to enjoy what they do and I'm proud to have them in my neighborhood - my favorite part of summer in the area is Saturday morning yard work knowing that I'm going to stop by their shop at noon to get a grilled German brat. There's lots to try here and it's definitely the kind of shop that you make a point to come back to. Try the brats of course; I also really enjoy their bacon (not quite Benton's Bacon level of flavor but still the best that I've found in the area and it doesn't take months to get). Otherwise I don't really want to get into detail about everything I've tried but I will say I've learned they have their own take on what they offer so even if it's something you think you don't like, or think you've already found the best of somwhere else, you might give it another try at...
Read morei have been a shopper since the 70's met the owner at a germania club, i went back again today and i was so diaspointed they had 2 men, working, the dark headed gentleman was very nice, the one that waited on me, is another story, i bought 1 lb of esrom cheese, and 1 lb of tilseter cheese, which is not cheap, there was plenty of cheese, but he cut me the end pc, he did not show it to me just wrapped it, when i got it home, to slice it, i had maybe 7 slices all the rest was rind... i took a friend to show off this place she spend over $200 to tell her co-workers about the german food, i will call her tomorrow and tell her how they tread old customers. it sure is not the original owner, he would have never done this, we german's have pride in our business. it just is not german anymore, we need a good one north of the river. thank you chris . i spend $100 of dollars , shopping for our family,...
Read moreThis little shop amazes me every time. Firstly, if you want the best big hotdog you’ve ever had, pick up the Knockwursts!! While you’re there, grab German favorites like mustards, Rye bread, sauerkraut and brat buns. (Tip: they will sell you the exact number of buns you need for your sausage order)! Deli meats, ground meat, various sausage options, and they even grill out for lunch on Saturdays. Swedish potato sausage was a staple in my family for many a Christmas. Saturdays are very busy as their weekday hours are a bit hard for some of us to get to. And as great and unique to the area as the food is, the SERVICE is TOPNOTCH…Accommodating, patient and exceedingly friendly. They are grateful and happy to see you! We are blessed to have them in Mission for all these...
