We had to wait at least 15 minutes just to place our drink order. About another 15 minutes to get it. One of our party had ordered a beer from the bar. He had to reorder a second time before he got his. That took several more minutes. Our appetizer salmon dip was a disappointment. First time we tried it. Dont get me wrong it was delicious. The disappointment was in the serving amount. We asked if it was large enough for a serving of 4. Was told yes. It wasnt. Unless you just want to count a sm taste for each person. So we considered it way over priced. It was a good thing we had ordered the appetizer with our drinks. When it was delivered. (Before the beer.) We told our waitress we was ready to order. She informed us she would be right back to take our order. We stopped to waitress to ask for refill on our drinks. Finally one obliged on the tea. Another member drinking water. Had to wait until on her refill, seems no one heard request. FINALLY 20 to 30 minutes later our waitress showed up to see if everything was alright. (Of course by then our hostess was quite embarrassed and upset to say the least. )So she informed the young lady a lot more polite than I would have, we dont know if the food is alright since you never came back for our order. May we place our order now, or are you still to busy to take it? She took it. Finally we got our food ate and left. We did have an enjoyable visit with our host(son in law) & hostess(daughter) while we were waiting. In all fairness...the food and atmosphere was wonderful. I feel the young waitress might have been new or untrained and maybe could have used some help. Like the other waitress allowing her to take care of her customers, instead of asking her to help pull tables togetheir for large groups...
Read moreMy wife and I have been going to Coltons for over 2 1/2 almost - 3years ever other weekend if not every weekend, until recently we haven't been in about a month, we always order sirloin steak! We have our 3 favorite waitresses, which we LOVE, they are amazing! For almost 3 years we have ordered our steak the exact same way, and generally we have to send it back 6 out of 10 times because it's cooked more well done than we've asked for/ordered it, and when we do if we have to send it back we ask for a discount or one to be taken off the bill, because if cooked CORRECTLY the steak should not have to be sent back, and usually we have no problem with getting a discount or one steak taken of for inconvenience and having to wait longer when we're HUNGRY and shouldn't have to have it sent back, its a restaurants job to make food according to customers orders! But we went last night for dinner and same as always ordered steak rare, when mine came out it was MEDIUM WELL hardly any pink, I told our waitress that it wasn't correct and she said she told them RARE, so she took it back. The 2nd one that came back was fine and I ate it. Before our bill asked if we could get a discount because I had to wait for it to be remade, she said she even asked nicely, but they said NO, BECAUSE I ATE IT?!?! I ate the SECOND ONE, AFTER the FIRST ONE that SHOULD have been cooked CORRECTLY, was WAY to well done WAS SENT BACK, and the SECOND ONE was properly cooked. I shouldn't have to be charged full price for something I had to wait longer to eat because the cook didn't cook properly as it...
Read moreI am writing to express my concern regarding the handling of our large party for twelve on 6-1-24 at 12pm. While the food and service we ultimately received were excellent, the initial encounter with the hosting staff left a negative impression on our entire group.
Upon arrival, we were informed of a lengthy wait time of a hour or more despite a clearly visible empty section in the dining area behind the bar section. We inquired about the possibility of being seated there, as we had been accommodated in the same section with similar group sizes on previous visits. Unfortunately, the explanation provided for not seating us there was no waiting staff and not open and left us feeling unwelcome.
My experience within the restaurant industry has been that staff are typically eager to find ways to seat large parties, recognizing the potential for increased revenue and positive customer experiences. In fact, during busy periods, it's common practice to see wait staff actively seeking solutions to accommodate larger groups. The initial resistance to seat us in the available section, particularly given our past experience at your establishment, was frustrating and detracted from what should have been a positive dining experience.
Thankfully, after host's had a long discussion with one another, we were eventually seated in the available section and the service we received from that point forward was excellent. However, the initial interaction with the hosting staff left a lingering negative impression on our...
