You can definitely tell this place doesn’t care about the visual appearance of the building and the food. As you walk up to the main door the awning is all torn and falling apart. We almost didn’t go in just because of this, but because we had family from out of town and we didn’t want to be difficult. When you get your food the presentation of the plating is awful. I personally do not mind my food touching, (however, some people do) You get a small child’s plate with Coleslaw, bake beans, cold sticky rice, hush puppies, and catfish all on this small child’s plate. We were honestly shocked at the high prices (higher than what I get at Red Lobster) I didn’t actually order what I wanted because I didn’t want to pay $17 for 10 fried shrimp. So, I order the Scampi! When it arrived it was white/clear looking! I was still just hoping it was good. Not at all, if wasn’t cooked. My mom’s order was not even what she ordered. She asked for the fries she order twice and she never received them! The waitress was apologetic she thought my shrimp didn’t look right either when she was bringing to us! So, my plate of shrimp went by the Cook and the waitress and to me and it was never stopped & questioned before I received it. I was so turned off by this point! I didn’t eat at dinner. We explained to her the rice cold, my moms food wasn’t good and she never received her fries. The waitress called the owner and had my food taken off (obviously) it’s wasn’t eaten and not cooked! However, we were still charged for my moms meal and fries. When I brought this to the waitress attention she said sorry the owner only took off your meal. We will...
Read moreToday we tried this place for the first time in our over a year of living in Sedalia as it was recommended by one of my husband's coworkers. We ordered takeout since we have a little kid and wanted a quick weeknight dinner. I got the jumbo coconut shrimp dinner and my husband ordered the 8 piece catfish dinner and we got a side of okra to share. Altogether we paid ~$45 which is pretty pricey but we heard it was good so we thought maybe it was worth it... oh boy were we wrong! I called ahead and was told it would be ready in about 20 minutes so I left almost right away and by the time I got there the food was already lukewarm. It had been 27 minutes exactly I know because I had to look at my phone log to see when I called the food in since she couldn't find my order (they had it under the wrong name for some reason) the food was pretty bland and flavorless.. I would not call it authentic Cajun food whatsoever, the rice was inedible, the coleslaw overly sweet, the okra was ok, but as a big fan of fried okra it was hardly better than something you'd get at Golden Corral, the catfish was pretty thin small pieces and needed salt, which was also the case for the okra. The coconut shrimp was lacking in flavor and I got sick of it halfway through when it was almost completely cold. For the price it was not a lot of food, my husband was still hungry at the end, albeit we didn't have all the food because of how low quality it was. Oh and the baked beans are just probably canned beans soaked in cooked barbeque sauce, actual canned baked beans are better. The hush puppies were...
Read moreI have to admit that this was yet another time I was disappointed with my meal when it came out. I always get the alligator meal which is always delicious tasting. There was a day this would have a very healthy portion of everything on the plate. This time once again it was VERY meager portions and extremely disappointing for a very hefty price tag. Our server was absolutely amazing and did an incredible job so this review is no reflection on them.
HOWEVER...
To the Management I only have this one message: Stop cheating your customers!! You are overpricing and under-delivering on what was once an amazing product. You are forgetting that people vote with their money. This is the second time that I have eaten here and felt it was a terrible value for my money. Why would I return to be disappointed for a third time?
That's not what Lemaire's was known for, but it seems as if this is what Lemaire's WILL be known for and I worry that people will stop coming to this once amazing establishment. Honestly, that would be a real shame. I don't want to see this once-amazing restaurant to have to close its doors....
