I have been a loyal customer too Ollie’s for years! I even introduced the restaurant Ollie’s to friends and family members. I literally spoke highly of this restaurant to several people in Baldwin county. June, 4th Tuesday night I drove from Fairhope to Mobile with intentions of having a wonderful experience at Ollie’s Mediterranean Gill on Hillcrest road. After being greeted at my table by my server, I asked if it was buy one get one free alcoholic beverage. The server replied by saying “yes, but it starts after 9pm”. I had already intended on staying until 9pm. I asked my server if i place my drink order then and cash out later after 9 could I still receive the discount. She replied by saying “You can’t have both at once, you can only have one at a time”. I was immediately confused because she didn’t respond with the answer to my question which could have been a simple yes or no answer. I took that as a yes and asked for a jack and coke. She then replied by saying “The drink special includes the house bourbon only” . Because the drink was buy one get one free I agreed to the house bourbon. I ordered 4 drinks , expecting to pay for only 2. After receiving my bill I noticed that I was charged for all 4. I asked my server about it and she replied by saying “there’s nothing I can do because the discount in the computer didn’t come into a effect until after 9” . I mentioned too her that I simply asked her before I even placed my order “if i place my drink order now and cash out later after 9 could I still receive the discount.” I also reminded her of her response which was”You can’t have both at once, you can only have one at a time”. Not only that but I wanted to drink jack and coke and she specifically told me that it wasn’t included in the discount. If I would have known that I was unable to receive the discount than I would have ordered my preferences which was jack and coke. All of this could have been avoided before I even ordered if my server would have taken the time to go to her manager and ask If my wishes were possible. After discussing our previous conversation, my server than asked if I would like to speak to the manager. A lady comes out with the same uniform as everyone else with an attitude saying that there was nothing she could do for me. When I ask to speak to another manager she replied by saying “ I’m part owner of this restaurant, I’ll just call the police if you don’t want to pay”. Never once did I get hostile with neither one of them. She calls the police and long story short I still had to pay for the two extra drinks . I work at a restaurant and we have never disrespected a customer in that manner. Right or wrong the customer is always right regardless! If I had gotten the 2 drinks removed from my tab even after the police got involved I would have still tipped my server 10$ on a 29$ bill . I will never step foot in Ollie’s on Hillcrest ever again and I will be sure to share my experience...
Read moreI loved this spot a few years back, last night I walked in to book a table. I was told there was a 45 minute wait by the bartender who was a male. Then the hostess came out the back after about 15 minutes. I asked again and she said the wait was 20 minutes if I was on the wait list. THE EMPLOYEE DIDNT EVEN TELL ME TO GET ON THE LIST SO I WAITED FOR NO REASON! I was okay with this part I did think it was inconsiderate but that wasn't major.
Then following that I received the worst service ever. My cup to drink out of was dirty like legitimately filthy, you could feel the dirty. No way she didn't feel this prior food and grime on that glass before serving it to me, I am not exaggerating the cup was FILTHY. The waitress Jayla or Jada I cannot remember exactly her name, but she was extremely rude to me. She slightly ruined our date night. On top of my girlfriend having to constantly ask for corrections because she wouldnt address me when I spoke, at my table that I paying for....... anything we need like napkins and utensils we had to ask for it. She brought us an appetizer with no napkins or utensils. When we asked for utensils she stated she “needed to go find some.” The place was not busy at this point. No one brought us anything. I ordered a hookah and it didn't work, we requested a fix and got the same exact one. I needed a refill and did not get one. The waitress jayla took my girlfriends cup didn't even ask if I needed one and walked off, you could clearly see we both needed a refill and we had the same exact drink. I never met this person a day in my life before, and I was extremely polite about it. I've had better service at McDonald's. Really disappointing considering the food was good.
In my heart I wanted to leave a big tip I always tip big, this time I couldn't do it. One of the worst customer service experiences I've had in a while. When I received the check no one came to collect the payment I had to go and ask could I pay so we can leave which I did so politely. And told the other waitress what was going on and she said “it’s one of those nights” I was in disbelief. It’s not the menu or the atmosphere it’s simply the waitresses although the young lady I spoke with to collect payment was nice, I don’t care what kind of night I paid for food and service and was treated like my meal was free.
The current employees make the environment feel cheap and nasty place needs to be cleaned!. The food is too expensive for the service you pay for, I would've had a better experience at a waffle house. And it's sad this place used to be a...
Read moreI hadn't been to Ollies in years. Decided to go in for a sit down meal. Ordered the hummus, vegetarian sandwich with falafel on side and sweet tea. My cousin order the shrimp poboy and sweet tea. Both came with French fries. The fries were loaded with salt but hot. The hummus was so bland I had to add seasoning to give it something and that did not help much but it was better than it originally was serve. The bread was hot but considering it looked like stone fire bread it definitely did not taste like stone fire bread. The vegetarian sandwich was not good. I took one bite and left it. The falafel was too think, they soaked the mix too long and pressed them together. Taste like they added flour or something to the mix to stretch the falafel mix and then deep fried them way too long. The shrimp poboy, according to my cousin was bland, no seasoning. To say I live in the New Orleans area, they should definitely remove that from the menu. The sweet tea was extremely sweet but the second glass was watered down. The manager did visit the table but it didn't change much. The bartender was apparently having a bad day because her attitude was not very pleasant considering she is the 1st person I should have been treated by but she pretended she didn't see me so I had to address her. I sent my $16 sandwich back that I took one small bite out of and they only removed $4. My bill came out to be $50.13 and they added $2 because I paid with a debit card. I will definitely NOT...
