This place came highly recommended, but I really wasn't expecting much. Everytime someone tells me about a great taco place, I try it and find it lackluster. I like layers of flavor, brightness, and an array of spices. I need a symphony of notes to play across my palette. Well I got it this time from PS tacos. I couldn't decide what to order after seeing all the choices on the menu, so I ordered a 3 taco plate and an extra taco. The tacos were the Shrimp (Fried), the brisket, the Black Jack, and the Belly of the Beast. I ordered them as is because I think you should try things to get the full flavor profile before trying to tweak them.
The Fried shrimp taco has Toasted coconut panko-breaded shrimp, sweet chili, spicy mayo, house slaw, pickled red onion, pineapple mango salsa topped with cilantro lime aioli. This was the first one that I ate and it was amazing. They had my attention at bite one. I do not like pickled onions at all but dude... Dude! I was doing my happy food dance. I'll happily eat this with pickled onions every time.
The Brisket taco was second one I ate and the only one I wasn't in love with. It has Slow cooked brisket, Pineapple BBQ sauce, pineapple mango salsa, house slaw, mixed greens & jalapenos. The brisket was a bit dry and I wasn't feeling the BBQ sauce. That being said it wasn't a bad taco, just not to my preference.
My next taco was the Black Jack. It has Korean style marinated beef, blue cheese, pineapple mango salsa, pickled red onions, mixed greens & cilantro lime aioli. This one also had me happily eating pickled onions. The blue cheese is more creamy bits and not chunks of crumble which suits this taco. The Korean beef was perfectly cooked, seasoned and moist. Definitely an outstanding mix.
The last taco I had was the Belly of the Beast. It has Pork belly, grilled shrimp, sweet chili, spicy mayo pickled red onions, avocado, mixed greens, mango salsa, tempura flakes & sweet soy reduction. This is another DUDE! taco. I had taken these to go to eat at home and this taco was going cold and getting soggy when I ate it. I didn't care. The array of flavors and textures on this taco are on point. I can't even begin to explain. Just order one.
Now if I had to grade the sides I have tried they would get the following, the rice (D) the black beans (C) and the corn (A), my corn was on the cob but i hear it can vary by supply. This is the only thing I can say that they could improve on.
Overall I would definitely send people here and have actually picked up food to bring to my friend group. That was in a weekend and they weren't quite as amazing that day but still...
Read moreWas in Mobile earlier today at a truck stop and asked what’s good around here to eat and I was referred to a place called P. S. Taco off cottage rd. I get there and it’s was a really cool friendly atmosphere. The staff was great and greeted when I walked in. The restaurant was at medium speed with people coming and going and yet the head chef Chef Danny I think along with her assistant chef Bri came and greeted me. Now on to the food…..
I ordered the pot belly or pork belly and some kind of loaded fries. I’m a big man but was instructed to order one first and if I finish order another. Hesitant is listened and was glad I did! This taco was huge and full to the point where I needed to use two hands to hold it. It was a perfect blend of everything and possibly the best choice I made that day! Two bites in and chef Bri brings me this gigantic plate of loaded fries and I was like OMG this can’t be real, not for this price. Washed it down with a sweet tea so good and sweet that if I would’ve had two I might’ve went into a diabetic coma 😩. They have a house made salsa and a house made queso cheese that is amazing as well. Seriously though if you’re in the area then hidden gem is worth exploring and here’s the good part it’s wallet friendly cause all of it was under $20 bucks. I told the guy working there aye man keep the change. They have a banquet room for parties, live music once a month, along with many other monthly activities. I think this month she said they’re doing a family bingo with door prizes and other items. I’ll definitely be visiting this place again next time I’m passing through which is often cause there’s a steel yard I haul out of only a few miles away. O yeah to my trucker friends there’s plenty of...
Read moreOk i don't know where to start😂😂 that's just how good they are. The atmosphere is awesome, very calm. The waitresses are super sweet, nice, and funny. My godsister and I eat there all the time, they already know us. The cooks are awesome... They season and cook the food to perfection! The managers are very nice, always smiling, very eager to help and make sure you are OK and satisfied. Now for the food... Idk where to start... The tacos are the bomb.com, you get alot of meat and the toppings are amazing, I never have to substitute anything I just add even more meat 😂😂😂. You literally need a bunch of napkins, a bib and both hands to eat just your first taco. The taco fries... Omg are so good and it's alot, I ate all of those fries even though I was full... The burrito is huge and full from end to end... I turned the belly of the Beast at taco into a burrito and added short rib to it. It already comes with shrimp and pork belly so the rib meat was a bonus to me.... That queso dip, my Lord.... So good and creamy and you get a big bowl and alot of chip's.... That Mexican corn, I can eat that by itself it's so good. The taco salad is awesome and it's a actual salad inside of and edible flour bowl and to get to choose the Meats you want on it. I can go on and on.... All I am going to say is try it for yourself because I'm going back again! I have been just about every single week since they opened up, I think i forgot to take pictures a couple times because I was so ready to dive in and eat! And let me say this, the prices are right, not expensive at all. This place is nothing near what you get at taco bell! I don't even go to taco bell anymore! But go and try it, you won't be...
