Sam's Southern Eatery — Restaurant in Mobile

I travel nationally, and its so hard to find a decent cheesesteak, like the kind you find in philly or ny. I ended up in Mobile, AL and was craving a cheesesteak, but I wont settle for anything mediocre. I mentioned that I had never been here to Mobile, nor had I ever had Sams Southern food. To my amazement, not only was the register clerk, Henry, giving exceptional customer service, but after I ordered and was just opening the door to wait outside, the Store manager, Asem greeted me, asked if he heard me right that I had never visited here, but he was even kind enough to ask if I wanted some free tea and welcomed me to the area and his restaurant! The food was better than what you expect from most fast food. It has that bowling alley awesome taste, like the kind youd get at a bowling alley, skate and roll rollerrinks back in the 90's. Its so good. I was blown away by the customer service, the food and some genuine southern hospitality! Dont forget the cook is a beast! "Emad".

Born and raised in Mobile but moved to Baldwin county a few years ago I noticed this place was in the old Taco Hell and had to stop by. Wow was I impressed! I’ve managed a few family owned restaurants and this place was amazing!!! Great customer service! Was no need to ask for condiments or forks or napkins! Excellent! Fresh, Hot, flavorful, seasoned food. We ordered the fried fish, fried shrimp, red beans and slaw. My son ordered the shrimp poboy with fries. The fries were crispy and great flavor. Love they wrapped the poboy in foil making it easier to eat, and the soft bread so much better than New Orleans poboy bread. It’s so tough and way too much bread in my opinion. Great house sauce! The red beans so flavorful! The slaw was OK but not bad at all! The fish was out of this world! Crispy, fresh, flaky, tender, flavorful, and complimented so well by the Sam’s sauce! The drive through of Sams during lunch is always full. Inside the restaurant many are enjoying their delicious meal. Co-workers, couples, families and friends, they all have nothing but good to say about Sam’s food. The price is good for the enormous portion. One gentleman asked what we ordered, we replied, “Fish and Shrimp “, yes it so good and consistent in flavor and size. We asked what he was enjoying and he replied, “ The best Philly Cheese Steak” he ever had in his life. We said we’ll have to try it. As a Northerner, I take it he hasn’t had a Philly Steak from Philadelphia. 🫢. However I’m sure it was good as he stated as I enjoy their food all that I’ve had thus far and the Philly Steak is next on the list. We shared that we’ve had the burger and it was amazing.
