Interesting place that I'm curious about and will be back. Very much a locals place and low brow but not a fault. Service seems to be a constant issue, hence the signs?! Honestly it's more of a concept issue and the fact there was only kitchen staff and one front end person for a fairly large and busy dining area. It was divided into two sides. On the right appeared to have smaller tables and booths with dividing walls for a more intimate setting. But make no mistake, this is not date night atmosphere. On the left where we ended up were larger tables and booths. In the back is pick-up orders and a small shop with food items etc I didn't get a chance to browse. They do have physical menus but you order through a QR code, which isn't new but is kind of confusing and can be off putting to some. They also have a kiosk for ordering if your interwebs aren't cooperating. Just order everything dine-in to your table number, but it doesn't communicate wait times. Also couldn't find alcoholic drinks, but maybe we should've used the tablet? The food isn't strictly Indian, but honestly I don't know what is anyway. If you're here I'm assuming you have a open mind, especially given the lack of anything similar in the area. I traveled from Mississippi. So nothing was really 'familiar' and I'm good with that. For apps we had the papdi chat and bhatmas chura, the former of which was the star for me. I would describe them as 'Nepolease' spiced captain crunch berries (served cold) and trail mix respectively. I don't understand it myself but would come back for the chat alone. The bullet and garlic naan were standard but good. The momo vegetables were this mix of a samosa and a fried Chinese dumpling. The saag while good, was a disappointment. This may have been due to expectations as I palak paneer is a favorite. It also may be due to me ordering the mild version. I've never ordered Tikka masala, but the medium spice version, which was similar to previous dishes but levels above in terms of flavor. Long story short, you may need to up the spice level to maximize flavor. You may also need to double check your order before you press send, as I had to order the Tikka separate togo after the meal. If you've had a better initial experience, or have had the patience to enjoy it for what it is, I see the loyalty. But I also understand the low reviews given our service and the fact that using an impersonal website to order dine-in isn't a popular choice given the unfamiliarity most people would have with the cuisine. Given all that, I want to come for buffet hours to try a bunch of dishes at once. I also later talked to a local at oyster city that raved about it, so it definitely deserves a...
Read moreSuch a shame that a good restaurant has become a horrible place . Used to go to this restaurant a few years ago. Went tonight and almost walked out as soon as we entered (wish we had!!!). Stayed and had absolutely terrible service and food. Suprised how shabby and falling apart the furniture is. All the menus were different. Some people had options and descriptions that were completely different. Waitress disappeared and had to order using phone even though we had questions. Food started arriving haphazardly, 1 or 2 items, then several minutes later another 1 or 2 items. Delivered by kitchen staff not server that seated us . After some of the entrees started arriving, we looked up and noticed the AC vents completely black with mold and dust. Suprised the Health Department rated this place 85. Could not believe how FILTHY these vents are and no one has done anything to clean them. We left and had to go to the counter to get the ticket and pay. No one brought us the bill nor did anyone ever check if everything was alright or if any one needed a refill on drinks. Will NEVER return to this restaurant. Horrible experience along with non existence service and below par Food. Was completely embarrassed to have brought friends to this place. BTW , this is the first time I have ever posted a review ,just wanted to let everyone know that I am not posting negative comments routinely,
Will add another comment because they say wheelchair accessible, what a joke no tables other than on a section that have 2 steps to climb. Had handicap person with us and asked if they could set a table so that there would be no stairs to navigate ...
Read moreThis was the worst Nepali restaurant, I ever ate at. The host lady named Lama runs the show, meaning, she is the host, waitress and cashier. I was so disgusted by the food. I ordered samosa chat (which was ok but a little too salty), chilly chicken was not fresh at all and was very rubbery. I specifically requested for regular naan and not the one with garlic since my young daughter does not like garlic. The lady brings out garlic naan and argues that, we ordered garlic naan. We ended up keeping it to avoid drama. The naan tasted too thick and old, then came the Combo biryani, we ordered (I've been eating Biryani for a long time) this was definitely not Biryani. It was a mixture of frozen vegetables that was not fully cooked, with steamed rice and run down tomato sauce with big chunks of beef, chicken and a few pieces of baby shrimps. Horrible experience and very saddened that our visit to this Nepali restaurant ended up like this. Customer Service was even worse especially because Lama was not concerned with my feedback as she argued that she had already warned us about the combo Biryani when I said it wasn't Biryani and wasn't what I expected, I was completely disappointed after her reaction to my feedback and...
