Boba Heaven — Restaurant in Mokena

Cute place, nice staff, but inauthentic and unloved boba drinks. They use artificial powders for their teas and although many other places do too, one of the problems is i watched them mix the powder with cold water and you get really grainy powdery drinks on top of that artificial taste other people are talking about in the reviews. It doesn’t matter how hard they shake it, the water must be very hot to fully dissolve that stuff. It doesn’t help that the boba is also on the harder side because maybe staff aren’t trained to cook it right. Boba Heaven is a chain across Illinois and is franchised so business owners buy the material and open these shops seemingly without fully understanding or caring what good quality boba shops are like. The critique is not just on this shop but many other ones as well in the suburbs. The best kind of boba shops brew their own teas and use fresh ingredients but at a mid-level tier type of boba shop (using powders), I’d highly suggest you try the drinks at JoJos Asian Bistro in Tinley Park instead. We just visited, such a cute place! We loved the booths and the beautiful boba murals on the wall. We ordered taro coconut and wintergreen bobas, they were delicious! I'm very happy there's a boba place in my hometown now! I've been to other places where they allow you to customize the sweetness/sugar level, and also add coconut milk and stuff, so I'd be happy if they implemented that here!
