Hands down; Simply the BEST, Dangerously Delicious Pizza we’ve had in years. Has the perfect crust texture/chew, sauce and everything about is/was Beyond Fantastic. Who knew a heavenly pizza establishment existed here on Earth, right in our midst- in Monona, WI? Had never heard of them; had a taste for Pizza establishments from years ago that no longer exist (googled & had to find out more about them). North Shore Pizza remedied that at first bite! It’s better than Ian’s. We also tried the Garlic Bread that comes with a generous side of savory sauce (the type that brings out an animal instinct to want to lick the container clean!), PHENOMENAL – taste similar to Portabella & we highly, Highly Recommend an order or "more" of it. Was unaware it comes topped with cheese (though we thought would be just regular garlic bread) – I warn you however it is HIGHLY ADDICTIVE! We will be ordering this repeatedly. Tada-ahh, finished it off by trying an order of their fried dough. A magical concoction that kicks your tastebuds into happy dance -overdrive (though prefer less powdered sugar). The texture of it is amazing, as well as the taste. Have never tasted or had anything remotely close to this dessert. Different then a funnel cake, far better than any dessert pizza... Addictive & may cause a major feeding frenzy even though already stuffed from eating previous items. There is an inexplicable ever-so satisfying spongy-chewy pizza crust chew of theirs that has to be experienced, to fully understand. Highly Recommend all three out of three items ordered. There was no choice but to go back day 2 to try a sub and pasta with marinara. The pasta was good (however pizza is our preference, then again prefer pizza over pasta 9 out of 10 times). To be fair, only tried the vegetarian sub; the bread & sub was good, and an OK for us. We recommend ordering their Pizza, Garlic Bread & Fried Dough – from the menu items we’ve tried thus far. We will be back to check out other menu items, but pizza, garlic bread, fried pizza dough cravings are on auto-forecast. Super kind, caring, unbeatable people oriented...
Read moreNow, I was a big fan of Rossi's, so suffice it to say I was disappointed to lose such a legendary spot. Nonetheless, North Shore Pizza and Subs, while NOT Rossi's, is doing it's own thing and doing it right.
I had a chance to grab a quick lunch and was happily surprised at the wide range of menu items. Some might find it overwhelming, but it reminded me of all the neighborhood joints I'd frequented in Chicago that had deep menus, ranging from sandwiches to pizza. I think this will play especially well to families where tastes vary. Either way, I got the steak special sandwich and I gotta say, I haven't had a better one in the Madison area. From the bread down to the steak, it was lovingly made, big and tasted spectacular.
I got talking with the owner and inquired about the pizza and he was nice enough to grab me a small slice to sample. It was damn good. Definitely an East coast style with a very flavorful hand tossed crust, an awesome red sauce and a delicious cheese blend. I'll definitely be hitting them up for pizza soon.
Lastly, so glad they kept the arcade. While the game selection isn't as well curated as Rossi's was, I found plenty of machines to play. Also, the addition of ski-ball and some more modern cabinets and egg machines will definitely make it more interesting for families and little kids to enjoy.
Overall, this is a great spot and I look forward to supporting them more...
Read moreCame in the middle of a snow storm. We were trying to make it home to Ft Wayne, IN and unable to get any further. Only Sub shop that answered a call. As we pull up the shop owners Momma (who mentioned she was just visiting and helping out today) came out to let us know they were closed for the evening due to the weather. As we are getting around to pull away (disappointed), she comes hustling out to say " my son said he could throw you a pizza in the oven, if you'd like?". After looking for an open sub shop for a couple hours in a couple different towns, ok we'll settle for a pizza. The son comes out to the counter and asks "what is it you really wanted?". My husband says "well, I really wanted a sub". Son says "sure, okay, what do want"? Long sweet story short they made us some awesome steak subs and we got a couple pints of ice cream to top it off. Really good food at a good price made by some really amazing people. Hard to find people like these people now days. It's on our favorites list and as over the road drivers, we'll definitely be visiting again. It was a good ending to a rather poopy day. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE AT NORTH SHORE PIZZA & SUBS! We pray you are blessed a million times over for you...
