Surprisingly disappointed; not sure if there are different cooks on a Sunday afternoon, but the food was inedible. The "Red Hot" (hotdog) seemed to be sitting on the flat top griddle for a while prior to placing my order, then reheated. My first and only bite exposed the inside having no moisture, and evenly browned throughout, with skin slightly charred. The flavor had no recognizable hot dog taste, no saltiness, and the bits of crushed red pepper had no spiciness left. The fries were also reheated, and similarly textured, but mildly warm and very tough. It also seemed they changed their fries with a different brand, of MUCH less quality. I brought the food to the cashier/ counter person and asked for a freshly cooked order; it was obvious she immediately noticed the difference from a freshly cooked order, and didn't hesitate to inform the "cook", and a new ordered was made; of course by the time I received my food, my girlfriend's meal was cold (she waited to eat together). While at the counter, I noticed the kitchen workers did not wear gloves. It was her first time there, and most likely,...
Read moreI came here with my family recently for lunch on a Saturday. I’m from New York but lived in CT for a short period of time also. We came here because of the great ratings. People were saying the food was great. But to us it was just typical diner food. Nothing special. However my husband did like the burger, and he’s a tough critic, so I guess the reviews about the burgers are pretty accurate. But friendly service??!! No way! The boys at the register barely made eye contact with us while taking our order and looked annoyed the whole time. They had a “hurry up and get on with it so we can hurry up and get back to the nothing we were doing before you got here” type of attitude. MINORITIES BEWARE! You will get stared at the whole time! I’m not blaming the establishment for this. I’m not sure if this is a regular thing but we came on a Saturday during a car show. There was a bunch of classic cars parked with nothing but a bunch of old white men and women who were staring at us as if we had three heads or something. They watched our move....
Read moreEvery once and a while you stumble upon a local favorite. The spot where Grandpa took Grandma for their first date. The drive-in that's been there for four decades. The best cheeseburger in town. The place where the little-league team celebrates their wins.
Bill's Drive-in is likely just that, and a whole lot more.
I came in with my brother and his girlfriend, Emma, after visiting a local Christmas tree farm. We were starving and we always struggled to find something for everyone. Well, we had no problem here. The menu is huge!
I had a Gyro which I read was awesome, and it was. Along with cole slaw and onion rings (I was really hungry). My brother had a chicken sandwich and Emma had a burrito bowl because she could.
It was busy but everything came up quickly and hot. You can call in your order if you like but you need some forethought and then you won't see the specials, yes, they have specials.
It's a great spot and I even think I saw a couple on a date that someday might be someone's grandparents. Glad to see the...
