By Word of Mouth/bywom bistro — Restaurant in Montana

Interesting that their name is By Word of Mouth since today their bartender was incredibly rude as we barely had walked in and tried to find out if we could eat or even buy a drink. She was short right out of the gate as we walked in then barked it would an hour and half for food, so we asked if we could at least get a drink and she said there was no room at the bar. We were a group of 8 and did pass an open 6 top right as we walked in and there were stools open at the bar. We realize staffing is a challenge but the experience across the rest of Big Sky today was quite different. We won’t be back, good news is we landed at Acre Kitchen and the staff and food was amazing even though they were also short staffed, they had just been trained in basic customer communication. (Post response edit) They don't even address the issue, and also display an inability to take feedback since I said stools and didn't say ALL stools, regardless lucky for them they are in a spot with a trapped customer base and don't really have to compete. Regardless we hope someone with customer mindset reviews this and actually provides some training to the young lady behind the bar who displayed complete inability to communicate or manage customers. Them being overwhelmed and unable to service us wasn't the issue, we would have completely understood that, but again sometimes it's hard to hear that you failed, and even harder to address it with your staff and change it culturally in our organization. If your looking for good service and food PLEASE PLEASE go somewhere else there is other options near there that will take care of you. Forced tonsit outside..they said no tablea available. When I went inside to use restroom i noticed 3 open tables. I ASKED OUR SERVER if we could please move inside because we were gettig rained on she said there was no open tables.... Two of us received our food when everyone else was already done eating! Not given any silverware untill 15 minutes after served food. When we asked for it servers seemed irritated... buns on one hamburger was so burned my son couldnt eat it. When we showed the owner she said sorry its "not for you"... WHAT. Chicken on Panini was not fresh it was old. When we complained owner snagged plates although we were not done eating I had had my food all of 5 minutes. She did not apologize or offer new food. She said the server was her daughter and they were low staffed... (no excuse)This place was not packed. She brought the bill and I told her there was no way Im paying full price for entire meal and she needed to make it right!!! She said I better pay. I PAID the 106 bill but In my entire life I have never been talked to the way the owner of this place talked to me. Ruined our day. I DO NOT want another family to be subjected to this so please AVOID THIS PLACE...

Don't waste your time or money. We had 3 different dishes and if you want a dish that looks pretty, well then please indulge. IF you want to feel satisfied, or at least that you got your $'s worth, good luck! Ordered the flat iron steak, it came as 6 tiny slices of beef (flat iron?) not weighing more than 2 oz on what they called an entree sized ceasar salad for $27. It was a tad bigger than a small dinner salad. I've been weighing my meat portions for several months now to make sure I get 3 to 4 oz of protein with my meals, so I do know from were I speak. (EXPERIENCE!) The $9 glass of Cab was yuck. The waitress recommended the $250 bottle if I liked a good Cab. Yeah, right. My wife had the basil shrimp, nice flavor, 5 shrimp lost on a large plate. Looked pretty though! The waitress could tell we were not happy, but she sure didn't inquire as to how was everythng, as she already knew. You would think that someone calling themselves word of mouth would be a little more aware of what that means! Had eaten the night before at the Lotus Pad and omg! What a difference. It is really the contrast in these 2 restaurants that the four of us wish we had not experienced! And right across the street...
