The food tastes good and portion size is generous. In most Thai restaurants you can have a soup as an appetizer. Not here - it’s a big bowl, and they add noodles ( Tom Yam Kung in Thailand is not served with noodles). The waitress did not warn us that we may be ordering too much ( 2 soups, stir fried cashews with chicken and Penang curry with beef for two). The lemongrass shrimp soup tasted good, with lots of mushrooms and tomatoes. The stirred fried cashews with vegetables and chicken was a winner. The Penang beef tasted authentic but the beef was on the chewy side. What marred the experience was the attention craving waitress. She kept coming to ask how we were doing ( 3-4 times after the soup was served)- it bordered on harassment. When the mains were served, she came again asking if we wanted boxes - before we even had a chance to taste the food! At this point, I asked her to stop rushing us. Mercifully she left us alone and we got the check from a colleague. Good food, but the service may cause indigestion.

This place is a local gem. The selection and taste of the Thai food is top notch. - reservations: recommended. Otherwise the wait time is around 30min for busy weekend evenings. - takeout: recommended! - service is friendly - food: you can add any protein in your dishes for extra $. However if you choose 2 different types of protein, they charge $4-6 for the first and a shocking $10 for the second, regardless of what you add!! For example, if you add beef and tofu to your curry, you'll see $5 for beef and $10 for tofu on your receipt. ✨✨✨✨✨Tom yum soup: generous amount. Can go very spicy. Super tasty and hearty. ✨✨✨✨✨ Pad Thai fried rice: salt and savory sauce with good ingredients ✨✨✨✨✨ Thai basil eggplant: really good ✨✨✨✨✨ Calamari: crispy! We loved everything we ordered and even ordered takeout on the second day. The dishes are much more expensive compared to their Bozeman location. Also be aware of the protein surcharges. Despite these, I highly recommend this place.

Food: My family had many dishes but I only ate my own dish which was the Pad See Ew. It was very yummy but as a Thai person the food didn’t seem authentic. Still yummy though! I recommend it with a spice level of 2-3 Can’t say how good the other dishes are as I didn’t try them but it seemed pretty good! Prices are on the higher end but have large portions of food. 🥰👍 Service: AMAZING! Our server managed every table!! He was so nice and friendly! The chefs also helped out with handing out the dishes and the chef was very nice! Although he wasn’t Thai which made it not exactly authentic but still great overall. 😊 Giving the restaurant a 5 due to the great service otherwise it might’ve been a 4! 😩❣️ Atmosphere: The atmosphere was nice, but I sat at the back and the door was open so I could hear cars driving by, I also felt like the restaurant didn’t really symbolize Thailand, (the decorations, etc) coming from a Thai Person. 😅

Thai Basil Big Sky was great upon opening and slowly has decreased in service and food quality /taste.

Last night I placed an order to go and was advised it would be an hour wait. At an hour, I called to inquire on status. The young lady over the phone stated it would be a longer wait due to there being only one cook in the kitchen, that it would be another 25 minutes. When I asked to cancel the order she stated it could not be cancelled as some items were already ready…?

She stated there were six people also waiting and that I would receive a text when ready. We waited an hour and 50 mi minutes total for the order to be ready and no discounts were provided to the food or the long wait. The order was cold and very poorly made - the Pad Thai Rice had only egg, green onion and was tasteless. The Pan Fried Dumplings were ice cold. The Massaman Curry had no heat, overloaded with too much beef and potatoes were huge chunks which were hard.

If we would’ve been advised initially there were behind and only one cook that evening, we would have chosen to order somewhere else. Highly disappointing how this place has gone down hill. Paid $70 for a food order that was...

Thai Basil: Come Hungry, Leave in a Food Coma

Listen, if you’re looking for dainty little portions, turn around now. Thai Basil is serving up massive plates of deliciousness that will have you questioning your life choices (in the best way possible).

Let’s start with their Uncle Tom Kah Soup—this isn’t just soup, it’s a warm hug for your taste buds. Creamy, tangy, and loaded with flavor, it’s like they bottled up comfort and served it in a bowl. I could happily bathe in it (but, you know, social norms).

Then there’s the Kai Soi, which is basically the dish of my dreams. You’ve got soft noodles, crispy noodles, and a rich, spicy, coconutty broth that’ll make you consider licking the bowl in public. If loving Kai Soi is wrong, I don’t want to be right.

And let’s talk about the Rice Pad Thai—because wow. Perfectly cooked noodles, a sauce that hits all the right notes, and enough portion size to feed a small village (or one very ambitious eater, aka me).

The service? Friendly. The atmosphere? Cozy. The portions? So big you’ll consider bringing a second stomach. If you’re craving mind-blowingly good Thai food and aren’t afraid of leftovers, Thai Basil is...

This was one of the first restaurants we visited when we arrived. We ate lunch here. Food was good & service was good. Our family is a party of 6 if you include our newborn (2 mos) who obviously did not order anything. When we received our bill we noticed the waitress included the gratuity automatically (20%). When we asked the waitress she said that any party of 6 the computer adds the tip automatically. Its kinda of funny because all the tables only have 4 seats. She also proceeded to tell us that most restaurants in Big Sky had these same practices and even included extra fees in addition to a forced gratuity. We ate at many other restaurants and no other restaurant automatically included a gratuity or had any extra fees. I feel hustled by a restaurant that allows their hostess/waitress to operate in this way. When we had the option to have lunch here again during our 2 week stay we decided not to return based on this experience. When in Big Sky in the future I would likely avoid this restaurant based on...
